Louisville WR Caullin Lacy makes highlight-reel catch in first game back from injury
In his first game back from injury, Caullin Lacy made a strong case for catch of the year in college football. His first-down reception in the third quarter raised plenty of eyebrows as Louisville tried to rally back against Notre Dame.
Tyler Shough put it in just the right spot for Lacy to reach out with his right hand and bring it down. He managed to keep control after hitting the ground, giving Louisville a crucial first down to get deeper into Notre Dame territory.
Lacy missed the first three games of the year as he worked his way back from a collarbone injury. It’s safe to say he made quite an impression in his season debut with a catch for the ages.
Louisville trailed Notre Dame 24-14 at the time of the highlight-reel play. It was Lacy’s fourth reception of the day as he became the Cardinals’ team later with 59 yards, emerging as Shough’s top target.
Caullin Lacy suffered a broken collarbone in August and was expected to miss 6-8 weeks, the program announced at the time. Jeff Brohm considered him a “game-time deal,” and he ultimately got the start and made an impact right away.
