Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab four-star cornerback Austin Ausberry committed to Auburn on Monday. The 6-foot, 200-pound prospect committed to the Tigers over LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida, and Alabama.

Ausberry is an LSU legacy, and picking Auburn over the hometown school was tough.

“It was hard and I will always love LSU, but Auburn is the best fit for me,” Ausberry told On3’s Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons. “LSU came at me hard over the weekend on my official visit, and they pushed for me to stay home, but I had to do what I felt was best for me. That is Auburn.”

Ausberry also told Simmons that the Auburn official visit helped put the Tigers over the top.

“It felt different at Auburn. I was on my visit and it felt like it was the right place for me. I kept looking at my options, but that visit was big for me.

“The feeling I had there was different. Auburn started to move up my list then. I liked it a lot there.”

The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services, currently ranks Ausberry as the nation’s No. 266 overall prospect and the No. 28 cornerback in the 2022 class.

Auburn is now up to 14 commitments in the 2022 recruiting class with National Signing Day only two days away. The On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings now have Auburn with the nation’s No. 22 overall class.
