CB Elijah Durr commits to Washington: 'I am ready to be part of the family'

Tacoma (Wash.) Mount Tahoma cornerback Elijah Durr was back at Washington over the weekend for another visit, but his decision was already made. When talking to his father one night late in February, he knew was ready to commit to Jedd Fisch and the Huskies.
“It felt like home,” Durr told On3. “Every time I am there, everyone welcomes me. The fans go all out for the players, the people offer great support regardless of the sport and my connections with the coaches have been there from the start.”
Secondary coach John Richardson was the leader in this recruitment.
“Coach J-Rich never changed. From the time he started recruiting me, he has been the same. He showed me who is really is. He cares about his players, he is ready to coach me up and how he kept it real 100% of the time made a big impact on me. Coach J-Rich is like family.”
Over a dozen other schools have offered the 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback and in the end, he chose Washington over Arizona. Since moving to Washington from southern California, he has had his eye on the Big Ten program.

“I have been going to games since my freshman year. It is like an hour away from home, the people treat me like family and I secretly committed two weeks ago. Now is the right time to make it public.
“The vibe there is happiness. The coaches want to be there. They are great people who show genuine love. It is always daps and hugs when I am there. I know I making the right decision and I am ready to be part of the family.”
Durr will take his official visit to Seattle on June 20.
