CBS Sports is adding two former NFL stars to its roster of college football analysts for the 2024 season, the network announced on Monday. Former Carolina Panthers and Boston College alum Luke Kuechly and former Patriots and Rutgers alum Logan Ryan will appear on select game broadcasts this year, expanding their new post-playing career paths.

In 2023, Kuechly joined the Panthers Radio Network to call 13 of Carolina’s regular-season games. He made his debut for the radio station in 2022 following his retirement. Kuechly retired as a player after the 2019 season. He also spent time with Carolina’s scouting department.

Despite his new role with CBS, the former Panthers linebacker plans to continue calling games for the NFL team’s radio station, according to reporter Joe Person.

“They just talk about how much fun it’s been,” Kuechly said last year of his new gig in media. “I think at the end of the day, it’s really just football. And I think talking about football is relatively easy.

“There’s going to be a learning curve, and things happen way faster in the booth. To be able to deliver a concise message and paint a picture for somebody is something these guys are really good at, and I’m going to have to get used to.”

Logan Ryan announced his retirement this offseason after spending 11 seasons in the league. Ryan shared the news on X in April.

Ryan retires after 11 seasons

Logan Ryan, 33, was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Patriots and helped the team win the Super Bowl during the 2014 and 2016 seasons.

In 2017, Ryan signed a three-year, $30 million deal with the Titans and was with the team for three seasons before joining the Giants. He played for the Giants for two seasons before signing with the Buccaneers in 2022. He signed with the 49ers in December and helped the team reach the Super Bowl.

Ryan told the New York Post in January he wasn’t planning to return to the league before the 49ers called.

“I was really at peace with what I’d done, and I wanted to just get stability for my family now,” Ryan told The Post. “I told a couple teams ‘no’ this year. But I have a lot of respect for how the 49ers play. I watched all their film while on the cruise, and I felt like I could fit into the defense. I told my wife, ‘It’s 68 days until the Super Bowl,’ and she was excited about it. There were only a few teams in the league I would do this for.”
