CBS Sports predicts massive changes to the AP Top 25 Poll after action-packed Week 10
From the opening kick to the final play of the weekend, Week 10 was filled with a ton of action across college football. Nine AP-ranked teams lost over the weekend, with four matchups between two AP-ranked teams taking place. Following the action-packed slate in Week 10, CBS Sports has tried to predict how the new AP Top 25 Poll will look on Sunday.
Week 10 is going to be remembered as one that dramatically impacted the College Football Playoff race. No. 1 Georgia hosted No. 3 Tennessee, and the Bulldogs played a sound game and won 27-13. No. 6 Alabama hit the road to take on No. 15 LSU in Baton Rouge, and that one required overtime. Brian Kelly opted to go for two and the win after an overtime touchdown, and that decision proved to be the right one as the Tigers converted the attempt and knocked off the Crimson Tide.
No. 5 Clemson also lost on Saturday, falling 35-14 to Notre Dame. While Tennessee is unlikely to fall too far in the rankings, the same might not be true for Clemson and Alabama. The Tigers and Crimson Tide’s hopes for the College Football Playoff just took a big hit.
No. 21 NC State also defeated No. 20 Wake Forest in the third and final matchup between two AP-ranked teams over the weekend, and the Wolfpack won 30-21.

Elsewhere in the AP Top 25, No. 13 Kansas State lost to Texas 34-27, which could very well result in the Longhorns re-entering the rankings. No. 14 Illinois fell to Michigan State as well, while No. 18 Oklahoma State‘s skid continued with a 37-16 defeat against Kansas. No. 22 Syracuse also continued its skid, falling to Pitt. No. 24 Oregon State lost as well right after entering the top 25, falling 24-21 to Washington.
With just a few weeks remaining in the regular season, the postseason picture continues to take shape. Contenders for the College Football Playoff are beginning to step up, while others are falling out. But as the page turns from Week 10 to Week 11, CBS Sports sees a lot of changes taking place in the AP Top 25 compared to last week.
