CBS Sports releases new 2023 NFL Mock Draft with Florida QB Anthony Richardson No. 1 overall
CBS Sports has released a new 2023 NFL Mock Draft. This one jumped out for a notable reason, the bold prediction that Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson is going to be drafted first overall.
There are a few reasons why this is so surprising. First, the Chicago Bears own the first overall pick and despite rumors that the Bears could trade Justin Fields, the truth is that they already have their quarterback of the future. Secondly, Anthony Richardson is a gamble. He has all the tools but he’s still a raw talent that needs time to develop, a luxury rarely given to first overall picks.

These are all just educated guesses at this point but they help demonstrate why certain quarterbacks were drafted where.

Also, CBS Sports has no qualms about predicting trades in its NFL Mock Draft. That’s a challenge to do well and is noted throughout the picks.
Notably, there are only 31 picks because the Miami Dolphins forfeited their first round pick due to tampering for Tom Brady.
