CBS Sports released its updated Top 25 and 1 rankings following transfer portal commitments throughout college basketball.

There are some familiar teams at the top but there are some newcomers as well to the rankings. With that, it’s an early look at next year’s slate of great teams.

Let’s dive into the latest Top 25 and 1 rankings from CBS Sports following transfer portal moves.

1. Kansas

The Jayhawks are loaded once again. This includes Hunter Dickinson, KJ Adams and Dajuan Harris all coming back to the team this year and they are at the top of the top 25.

Kansas also added AJ Storr, Rylan Griffen and Zeke Mayo from the portal. You’d be hard pressed to find a better assembled team at this point.

2. Houston

Houston G LJ Cryer

Houston returns eight of the top 10 scorers on the team and Kelvin Sampson will have a great team once again. LJ Cryer, Emanuel Sharp and transfer Milos Uzan are going to make the team a favorite in the Big 12.

Is another No. 1 seed in the cards for the Cougars? Based on this lineup, it certainly looks feasible.

3. North Carolina

The Tar Heels bring back the top five scorers from last year’s team. That includes RJ Davis, Elliot Cadeau and Seth Trimble.

The recruiting class is good, adding Ian Jackson and Drake Powell. In the transfer market, Belmont’s Cade Tyson comes in to help UNC make the Final Four.

4. UConn

Back-to-back titles for the Huskies and Dan Hurley’s squad is just No. 4 on this list? That’s right, CBS Sports has them just a notch below the top three.

But five of the top nine scorers are back and UConn added Aidan Mahaney and Tarris Reed. Not to mention freshman Liam McNeely should contribute right away.

5. Iowa State

The top four scorers are back for the Cyclones. This team earned a No. 2 seed with 29 games last season.

The big news is Tamin Lipsey and Keshon Gilbert give Iowa State quite the 1-2 punch. Could ISU be in the Final Four for the first time since 1944?

6. Baylor

Scott Drew is back as he did not leave for Kentucky this offseason. Three of his top seven scorers are back from the No. 3 seeded team in 2024. They’re high up in the top 25 as of now.

Baylor also added Duke transfer Jeremy Roach, Miami’s Norchad Omier, Cal’s Jalen Celestine and top recruit VJ Edgecombe. Look for another NCAA Tournament run.

7. Gonzaga

Every rotation piece is back for Mark Few, sans Anton Watson. Gonzaga got the Sweet 16 last season and could be poised for another great run in 2025.

Look out for Graham Ike to have a great season. He’s listed as one of the favorites for the WCC Player of the Year going into next season.

8. Duke

Caleb Foster and Tyrese Proctor are back next season for the Blue Devils, really helping Duke’s title chances. The team also landed transfers Maliq Brown, Mason Gillis and Sion James.

But the star attraction is five-star and No. 1 recruit Cooper Flagg coming in. He’s the projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

9. Alabama

Grant Nelson and Latrell Wrightstell are back for the Crimson Tide and Nate Oats. This team made it to the Final Four for the first time and can certainly be in contention for a title.

Alabama landed transfers Cliff Omoruyi (Rutgers), Houston Mallette (Pepperdine), Chris Youngblood (USF) and Aden Holloway (Auburn). Freshmen Derrion Reed and Labaron Philon should contribute right away.

10. Auburn

Johni Broome, Chad Baker-Mazara and Denver Jones are back for the Tigers next season. Freshman Tahaad Pettiford should be a big contribution right away for this top 25 team.

As far as transfers are concerned, Auburn landed Furman’s JP Pegues. Is the Final Four a possibility for Bruce Pearl and company? Certainly.
