Charles Huff reacts to Ryan Day's response to Tudor's Biscuit offer

Marshall head coach Charles Huff and Ohio State head coach Ryan Day have nothing but great respect for each other. That was evidenced by Day’s reaction to Huff jokingly trying to lure Buckeye players to Huntington with a Tudor’s biscuit NIL deal.

And on Wednesday evening, Huff posted his response to Day’s reaction to his Twitter page.

“Thank you Ryan Day, a joke hopefully taken in stride by all! We work in the greatest profession in the world (IMO) we should enjoy every moment! Excited about the opportunity Marshall has to compete against a great opponent,” Huff explained on his Twitter page on Wednesday evening.

Ryan Day on the Marshall head coach joking with his players

In his Wednesday evening session with reporters, OSU head coach Ryan Day had nothing but praise for Huff and he enjoyed the joke.

“Yeah. Yeah. Somebody sent that. First of all, again, I have a lot of respect for him. I think he’s very thorough in his approach. I think he does a really good job in communicating. Runs a really good program. I’ve got a lot of respect for him. But I thought the way he handled that was great. Sometimes as coaches we take ourselves too seriously. You know? And I just thought he was having a great moment there,” Day explained.

“But listen, those guys are gonna come here to play. You know?” Day continued. “And he’s gonna get those guys ready. And I know that for a fact. They’re a good team and he’s a good coach, good staff, good players. And they’ve got a lot to come in here and prove. Every day you want to prove somebody right and prove somebody wrong. And they’re gonna come in the same way. We’ve gotta be ready for that.”

Charles Huff offers up biscuits to Ohio State players

You have to hear the pitch for yourself to believe it. It starts innocuously enough, as a plea for fans to have some patience, it seems. Then… well, listen for yourself.

“I feel good about the track we’re on, trust me,” Huff said. “I know where we are, but I feel good about the track we’re on. And I feel good about the players we have. Would love to have some of those guys from Ohio State, too. So, if they want to transfer on down we’ve got a Tudor’s biscuit NIL all-you-can-eat.

“So, if any of those guys that run really, really fast at Ohio State like Tudor’s biscuits, I promise you, all you can eat, all day if you transfer here. But yeah.”

In Huff’s defense, Ohio State has had some exceptionally talented young players enter the ranks in recent years. And being able to peel off a Jeremiah Smith or two would certainly do wonders for the program.

Marshall — and head coach Charles Huff — will get an up-close look at Smith this weekend when the two programs meet at noon on Saturday. Biscuits not included.
