Charlotte transfer defensive back Dontez Fagan commits to West Virginia
Former Charlotte defensive back Dontez Fagan has committed to West Virginia, via the NCAA Transfer Portal. He only spent one season with the 49ers.
In his lone season at Charlotte, Fagan played in all 12 games and made nine starts. He tallied 21 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, five passes defended and one interception. He also recorded a fumble recovery.
Before transferring to Charlotte, Fagan played one season at Independence Community College. In his short time at the JUCO program, Fagan played in seven games, collecting 14 tackles, two tackles for loss and an interception. For his efforts, he was named an All-KJCCC First Team member.
Fagan began his career at Central Oklahoma. Fagan redshirt during his true freshman season and was unable to play in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. In 2021, he played in 11 games and made 14 tackles.
Dontez Fagan played high school football at Milwood (OK), where he was an unranked prospect in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He is the ninth player West Virginia has added during or since the 2023 campaign. The team has also lost 20 players. The Mountaineers currently boast the No. 16 spot in On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings.

Katarincic spent the first two seasons of his college career with the Mountaineers, redshirting in his freshman season and appearing in just two games with four total snaps this past season. He made game appearances against Duquesne and Cincinnati in 2023.
He was not with the team when West Virginia kicked off spring practice this week, but now officially parts ways with the program as he enters the transfer portal with three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Katarincic was a three-star prospect out of Choate Rosemary Hall High School in Wallingford (CT), where he was ranked the No. 1,727 overall player and No. 140 offensive lineman in the country for the 2022 recruiting cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
The 6-foot-4, 293-pound offensive lineman played at the offensive guard and tackles spots at the high school level. Where he was a First-Team All-Founders Football Conference and All-New England Prep School Athletic Conference selection. Also making the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll during his time with West Virginia.
