Former Charlotte edge rusher Demon Clowney has committed to Louisville out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Clowney was a Class of 2019 prospect, originally. He signed with Ole Miss out of high school before transferring to Charlotte.

He is a cousin of South Carolina legend and long time NFL edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney.

Clowney played high school football at St. Frances (Md.) Academy in Baltimore where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 239 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Clowney spent three seasons at Ole Miss before transferring to Charlotte before the 2023 season to play with his former high school coach, Biff Poggi. After playing sparingly for the Rebels, Clowney became a key piece for the 49ers.

In his last two seasons at Charlotte, Clowney played in 22 games, making 10 tackles for loss including 4.5 sacks. On his career, Clowney has played in 33 games, making 13 tackles for loss with 6.5 sacks.

Louisville landed another Group of 5 edge out of the portal recently

Coastal Carolina star EDGE transfer Clev Lubin committed to Louisville, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Lubin is widely regarded as one of the best available pass-rushers in the NCAA transfer portal. Lubin spent just one season at Coastal Carolina and will have two years of eligibility remaining. As a freshman at Army in 2022, he redshirted.

This season, Lubin finished with 44 total tackles, 24 solo tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three pass deflections, one fumble recovery, three forced fumbles and one defensive touchdown.

He originally went to Iowa Western Community College in 2023 and led the team to an NJCAA D1 Football National Championship. Then, Lubin found his way to Coastal Carolina this season. He made and immediate impact, paving the way for a transfer portal jump to a bigger school.

Lubin had previously discussed his decision to transfer after just one year with the Chanticleers.

“I would first like to give all glory to the most high for putting me in the situation I am in today,” Lubin wrote in his statement. “He has blessed me in so many ways through the ups and downs. Without him, none of this is possible.

“I want to thank the coaching staff and the community here at Coastal for giving me an opportunity to thrive in this environment. Thank you to my teammates for everything we did this year. Though our time was short, we’ve made moments that’ll last forever. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of guys to work beside. I’m forever grateful to be Chant.”
