The 2022-2023 college football season has been wrapped up for a few weeks now, but that means fans and schools can start looking forward to the 2023-2024 college football regular season. The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game is annually one of the most highly anticipated matchups in college football. This upcoming fall, the game will be played between the Louisville Cardinals and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

This evening, on their Twitter page, Chick-fil-A unveiled the 2023 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game matchup.

Check out their announcement on Twitter below.

Louisville finished off their 2022-2023 season strong

Louisville finished their 2022 season off on a really strong note, throttling their rivals, the Cincinnati Bearcats in their bowl game 24-7. The Cardinals’ defense will haunt the nightmares of former Wake Forest and current Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman, after they absolutely destroyed the Demon Deacons in a 48-21 beatdown. Hartman had one of the worst games of his college football career in that matchup, throwing three interceptions. Louisville erupted for 35-points in the third quarter of that game, tying the record for the most points in a quarter against an AP Top-10 ranked team.

Georgia Tech has unfortunately lost two of their biggest offensive stars the past two seasons. Two years ago, they lost their electrifying tailback, Jamhyr Gibbs to the transfer portal, where he ultimately joined the Alabama Crimson Tide. Then this offseason, their star quarterback Jeff Sims, decided to hit the transfer portal. He’ll be playing for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, a major, major loss for the Yellow Jackets. Former Texas A&M quarterback Haynes King will be competing for the starting quarterback job at Georgia Tech this offseason.

Louisville will have new faces on the field for the matchup, too. Quarterback Malik Cunningham is at the Senior Bowl preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft. The Cardinals also have a new head coach, as Scott Satterfield moved on to become the head coach of the Cincinnati Bearcats this offseason. The Cardinals’ new head man is Jeff Brohm, the former head coach of the Purdue Boilermakers and the brother of Louisville legend Brian Brohm.
