Chris Holtmann shares challenges of facing Michigan State on Senior Night
Ohio State has one more game on its regular season schedule before the start of the Big Ten Tournament. And that game will not be a walk in the park for the Buckeyes. Ohio State will travel to East Lansing, Michigan, to take on one of its biggest rivals in the conference Michigan State. And if that wasn’t enough to supercharge this contest, the Saturday morning contest will be the Spartans’ senior day game.
Ahead of the matchup Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann shared the challenges he sees his Buckeyes facing against the Spartans.
“They’re phenomenal there at their place,” said Holtman. “I mean, they’re phenomenal, and they’re incredible on senior night. So it’s going to be an incredible environment. It always is there. But it’s ratcheted up on senior night, on a weekend. So, we’ll have that conversation with our guys because it’ll be as probably as intense of the environment as we’ve been in all year. And that’s saying something because we’ve been in some great ones. Whether it was Indiana on a Saturday night or Purdue on a weekend. But it’ll be that for sure.
Michigan State has been a difficult opponent this season whenever they have the homecourt advantage. The Spartans are currently 11-2 at home this season. And not only that, coming the last time these two teams faced off, it was Michigan State who won convincingly in Columbus, OH, to the tune of a 62-41 victory.

Holtmann shares how late-season rally impacts Ohio State’s future
Following Ohio State’s upset win over Maryland, head coach Chris Holtmann shared how the late-season rally for the Buckeyes impacted the team’s future.
The two wins in a row improved Ohio State’s record to 13-17, although still a down year for the team. Holtmann acknowledged a lot of different and difficult conversations about the future of the team.
He spoke about that and more following the win over the Terrapins.
“Just a lot of conversations,” Holtmann said. “I think they’ve got to know you care about them as a person. If they don’t feel like that, they’re not going to be willing to have those kinds of conversations and hopefully our guys do.”
