4-star PG Chris Jeffrey down to 8 schools
Chris Jeffrey, an On3 four-star point guard in the 2025 class, has cut his list to eight schools: Butler, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
To this point, the 6-foot-3 rising senior out of Mt. Zion Prep (MD) has taken official visits to Maryland and Oklahoma State (former coaching staff). Jeffrey is scheduled to take an official visit to Butler on September 21st and says he is also working on setting up visits to Mississippi State, Penn State, and Tennessee.
According to On3’s Top-150 Player Rankings, Jeffrey is the No. 68 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle. He’s also the No. 8 point guard.
Jeffrey talks programs involved
In a previous interview with On3’s Jamie Shaw, Chris Jeffrey discussed several schools in the mix for his talents.
Maryland: “I learned they are a real basketball school there, and everyone in the program is really connected there. They love their point guards at that school. The facilities are great there. They have so many gyms for players to use, really all you have to do is stay focused and you will get to where you want to go. The relationship with the staff is great there. They talk with me about every single day. Even if it is not is about basketball, they’re checking in on me to make sure everything is ok.”

Mississippi State: “It’s the SEC, and they’re a guard school. Coach (Chris) Jans lets his guards go, gives them freedom to do their thing. I talk with the staff about every day making sure that I’m good. They talk about things with me that I need to fix and improve on, we have a great relationship.”
Butler: “They let their point guards play freely. Coach (Mike) Pegues has really connected with my mom too, and that is big for me because he is not just trying to connect with me, but with my family also. Posh Alexander’s best year in college was last year at Butler, so that shows me that they can develop good guards.”
Tennessee: “They tell me how they love how I play defense and how I lead my team. Zakai Zeigler goes there and we both have the same AAU coach, they think I could come in and do some similar things as him.”
Penn State: “They like how I lead. Coach (Mike) Rhoades also tells me that he likes how I score the ball, can play off the ball or get my teammates involved. They said I don’t have to have the ball in my hands to be effective on the court.”
