Four-Star EDGE Christopher Burgess commits to Notre Dame

Four-star EDGE Christopher Burgess of Chicago (IL) Simeon High announced his commitment to Notre Dame Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-5, 225 pounder chose the Fighting Irish over Alabama, Michigan, and Ohio State.

“I committed to them because of how much they invested in me as a player and they want to develop me into a first round pick.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.

“I have a great relationship with the coaching staff since they’ve been recruiting me since my freshman year. I’m closer with Marcus Freeman and Al Washington.”

The Illinois EDGE joins coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish’s top 5 2025 class. He is accompanied by four-star quarterback Deuce Knight, four-star safety Ivan Taylor, and others.

Burgess ranks as the No. 130 player according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 9 EDGE and the No. 5 player in the state of Illinois.

He currently does not have an On3 NIL Valuation publicly listed. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
