Notre Dame QB commit CJ Carr invited to Elite 11 Finals
Saline (Mich.) four-star quarterback and Notre Dame commit CJ Carr has received an invitation to the 2023 Elite 11 Finals. He earned it after his performance at today’s Elite 11 Regional in Massillon, Ohio.
Carr is the No. 47 overall prospect and No. 5 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Michigan.
The 6-foot-2.5, 195-pound signal-caller is the latest quarterback to make the cut for the Elite 11’s showcase event in California. Others include Carlsbad (Calif.) five-star Julian Sayin (Alabama commit), Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School four-star Luke Kromenhoek (Florida State commit) and Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange three-star Trever Jackson.
One of the highest honors for a high school quarterback is being invited to the Elite 11 Finals. The event, which will celebrate its 24rd year in 2023, brings together the country’s elite signal-callers for three days of competition and training in Los Angeles.
Elite 11 alumni include Carson Palmer, Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford, Tim Tebow, and more recently Trevor Lawrence, C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young and more. Last year’s Elite 11 Finals featured more than a dozen of the top 20 quarterbacks in the final On3 Industry Rankings, including three of the top five players at the position.
Carr co-headlines a top-10 class for Notre Dame
Carr committed to Notre Dame last June picking the Fighting Irish over Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin and others.
He is the grandson of legendary Wolverines coach Lloyd Carr.
“I am really, really excited to recruit a class,” Carr told Blue & Gold after his pledge. “I want the Notre Dame 2023 and 2024 classes to be No. 1 in the country. My goal is to recruit the best players to the best university.”

Notre Dame wrapped up the 2023 recruiting cycle with the No. 10 class in the country and the Fighting Irish’s 2024 class is currently ranked No. 8. The class consists of 10 commitments including pledges from six four-star prospects.
Carr is the second-highest ranked prospect in the group. Four-star wide receiver Cam Williams out of Glen Ellyn (Ill.) is ranked as the No. 34 player in the country and the No. 10 wide receiver.
“It’s amazing to have that connection and start that chemistry,” Carr told On3 regarding his relationship with Williams. “We already click off the field, and on the field, that will come.”
Notre Dame’s other four-star commitments include interior offensive linemen Peter Jones and Anthonie Knapp, running back Aneyas Williams and tight end Jack Larsen.
