The weather could have a big impact on multiple College Football Playoff first round games this weekend. The matchup between Clemson and Texas is not one of them. It is expected to be a picture-perfect day in Austin on Saturday when the Longhorns host the Tigers.

According to The Weather Channel, it is expected to be 62 degrees and sunny for kickoff of the Clemson at Texas game. Winds are expected to be around 5 miles per hour at kickoff.

The low for Saturday in Austin is 37 degrees early Saturday morning, so fans up tailgating early will want to have a jacket. However, temperatures are expected to reach the 50s by 11 a.m. and 60s by 2 p.m.

Temperatures are expected to get into the 40s late Saturday night, but the Clemson at Texas game should be over by then.

It is expected to be well below freezing as the College Football Playoff gets underway Friday night in South Bend when Notre Dame hosts Indiana. The weather is also expected to be below freezing for the SMU at Penn State game Saturday afternoon, as well as the Tennessee at Ohio State game Saturday night. But when Texas hosts Clemson Saturday afternoon, there should be no issues for either team in regards to the weather.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian reveals he is a ‘big fan’ of Cade Klubnik

Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Longhorns are preparing for their first round showdown with the Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoff, and it’s led him to revisit Cade Klubnik’s ability as a quarterback.

The Austin native was someone Sarkisian had a ton of interest in as a recruit, before he chose to join Dabo Swinney’s bunch. As they’re slated to face-off as the No. 5-No. 12 seed matchup in the CFP, Sarkisian spoke about what he thought of Klubnik back when he was evaluating him, and why he’s such a fan of the quarterback’s abilities.

“Big fan of Cade. We recruited him hard,” Sarkisian told the media. “You know, obviously a local kid. I thought, [he] really possesses a great deal of competitive spirit. You could see that when he was in high school at West Lake. He’s a winner. He’s going to do what it takes. He’ll throw it, he’ll run it, he’ll block. I mean, that guy will do whatever it takes to try to put his team in position to be successful. That was obviously a heck of a team with Michael Taaffe and a lot of really good players on that team.

“So, you know, he made the decision to go to Clemson. Honestly, I was surprised. You know, both his parents went to [Texas] A&M and we thought we were the hometown team. He had always had a dream of going to Clemson. For him, I think, what a cool story of getting into the College Football Playoff and the first round game’s right here in Austin. Back home for him. So, a lot of really cool storylines to this ball game, and that’s one of them.”
