Clemson corners Shelton Lewis, Jeadyn Lukus labeled day-to-day by Dabo Swinney
Clemson is set to take on Georgia in a season-opening contest that could have far-reaching implications for both teams, and the injury report for the Tigers bears some monitoring.
And a pair of cornerbacks remain up in the air ahead of the game.
Coach Dabo Swinney touched on the availability of both Shelton Lewis and Jeadyn Lukus during a press conference on Wednesday.
“Man, he’s been day-to-day for the last couple weeks,” Swinney said of Lewis. “And he’s still day-to-day. He’s still getting better every day.”

Then, when reporter Chapel Fowler of The State followed up to ask about Lukus, Swinney doubled down on his day-to-day messaging on the Clemson cornerbacks.
“Yep. And me too. We’re all day-to-day around here,” Swinney said. “Everybody. We’re all day-to-day, week-to-week. You are too, Chapel. Don’t think you’re not. We’re all day-to-day, week-to-week just hoping that we get another day tomorrow. That’s all I’m hoping for. One day at a time.”

Both players had varying contributions for the Tigers last season. Lewis recorded 10 tackles, nine pass breakups, two interceptions and one defensive touchdown. Lukus notched five tackles and two passes defended.
The duo started six games combined, with Lukus starting four and Lewis starting two.
Kirby Smart shows respect for Cade Klubnik
There are question marks about whether Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik can elevate his play enough to get the Tigers into playoff contention this fall, but Georgia coach Kirby Smart is definitely anticipating some growth from a year ago.
He’s not taking the Clemson quarterback lightly.
“Yeah our report is, No. 1, very experienced, has played in a lot of football games,” Smart said on an SEC teleconference call on Wednesday. “And when you have a quarterback that’s played a lot of football games, it’s an advantage. I mean we both have kids that have experience, so the quarterback is such a key part of every game because he has to make a decision every play. Touches the ball every play.
“I think the guy’s done a tremendous job, he’s going to be even better with a year’s worth underneath his belt of this offense.”
Clemson and Georgia will get underway at noon ET on Saturday with a national broadcast on ABC.
