2026 CB Marcell Gipson commits to Clemson

Dallas South Oak Cliff three-star cornerback Marcell Gipson has committed to Clemson, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
The latest pledge to come out of the Tigers’ Elite Retreat weekend, Gipson chose the ACC school over the likes of SMU, Ole Miss, Washington and Wisconsin.
Gipson is the No. 669 overall prospect and No. 56 CB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 90 player in Texas.
The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder is the sixth prospect to commit to Clemson since Friday. The Tigers’ pledge list now features 11 prospects and ranks No. 7 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
More on Clemson’s big recruiting weekend
Washington Court House (Ohio) Miami Trace four-star offensive tackle Adam Guthrie was the first to pop, committing to Clemson on Friday afternoon. On Saturday night, Jacksonville Bolles School four-star wide receiver Naeem Burroughs and Purcellville (Va.) Bullis School four-star WR Connor Salmin each jumped in the fold. Sunday morning brought a pledge from Milton (Fla.) Pace four-star interior offensive lineman Grant Wise.
Burroughs is now the headlining piece to the class, ranking as the No. 2 wideout in the cycle in the On300. He’s the No. 44 recruit and No. 6 WR in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Orlando First Academy four-star IOL Chance Barclay then pledged late Sunday night ahead of Gipson’s announcement on Monday afternoon.

The class also already includes a blue-chip quarterback in Queen Creek (Ariz.) four-star Tait Reynolds. On3’s No. 16 signal-caller in the cycle, Reynolds pledged last July. The Tigers also own a commitment from Birmingham (Ala.) Spain Park three-star QB Brock Bradley.
It’s an offense-heavy list thus far, as Knoxville (Tenn.) Webb School three-star cornerback Shavar Young and now Gipson are the lone defensive recruits committed.
Salmin is behind Burroughs at the top of the class, checking in as the No. 164 recruit, No. 27 WR and No. 5 player in Virginia. Guthrie and Wise are both top-250 overall recruits and top-20 prospects at their respective positions in the trenches.
“I loved it all,” Guthrie told On3 about his trip and commitment. “From the stadium, to the people, the facilities, the way they carry themselves, and how much Clemson fans love their team.”
