Clemson opens as 11.5-point favorite over South Carolina in the Palmetto Bowl
Clemson is a big favorite in a big rivalry, getting a 11.5-point edge over in-state rival South Carolina in the Palmetto Bowl, according to VegasInsider. It’s a rivalry the Tigers have owned in recent years, and one they’re projected to win again and fairly comfortably.
Clemson demolished Miami, 40-10, on Saturday to improve to 10-1, the only blemish on the record a road loss to Notre Dame. And while the loss to the Irish was not competitive, the Tigers are still loaded with plenty of talent on offense and defense.
The Gamecocks are no slouches, either — and they showed that on Saturday night. Quarterback Spencer Rattler had the best game of his career, throwing for six touchdowns as South Carolina bested No. 5 Tennessee at home, 63-38.
Clemson has won the last seven meetings all the way back through 2014; the two teams didn’t play in 2020 due to conference-only schedules during the Covid season.

South Carolina coach Shane Beamer is bringing a confident bunch
The upset of the season arguably took place on Saturday, with South Carolina demolishing Tennessee at home. From start to finish, the Gamecocks were able to handle the Vols and got a signature win under head coach Shane Beamer.
Beamer spoke with ESPN’s Holly Rowe after the game as fans stormed the field. He talked about how proud he was of his players and especially his seniors. He then took some time to pat himself on the back, sending a sort of ‘I told you so’ message to everyone in college football.

“We got a resilient bunch,” Beamer said. “I love these kids. They work their butt off and no matter what happens every Saturday, they come back to work every Sunday and have a better week of practice than they had the week before. I’m so happy for them, so happy for our seniors. I mean, I’ve been telling people we have a good football team and we sure as hell showed it tonight.”
