South Carolina announces rained out Game 3 of Clemson series won't be rescheduled
The Clemson at South Carolina baseball game that was originally scheduled for March 1 won’t be made up, South Carolina announced on Tuesday.
The game was originally postponed due to weather but has now been canceled.
“The University of South Carolina baseball team’s contest against Clemson that was postponed due to rain on March 1 will not be made up,” South Carolina said in a statement. “A mutual date was unattainable based on remaining competition and academic schedules.”
With Game 3 of the series being canceled, Clemson takes the season series 2-0. The Tigers earned a 5-4 win at Segra Park in Columbia on March 2 and a 5-4 win on March 3 in Clemson.
The Tigers have been one of the best teams in the country so far in 2024. Clemson is 28-3 (10-2) after sweeping Notre Dame this past weekend. Head coach Erik Bakich has the Tigers ranked No. 2 in the country in his second season.
As for South Carolina, the Gamecocks are 22-10 (6-6) after dropping two of three games against Texas A&M over the weekend.
In conference play, SC swept a really good Vanderbilt team, but that is the only series win for the Gamecocks in the SEC thus far. Up next, South Carolina will play a Florida team that has also had an up-and-down start to the season.

Following Sunday’s win over Texas A&M to salvage the final game of the series, Kingston shared his team’s mindset as it looks to string some wins together.
“We talk about it all the time. It’s a long season. There will be ups. There will be downs,” Kingston said. “I compare it to a long flight across country. There will be turbulence at some point. It doesn’t mean you jump out of the plane. You have to be able to endure it.
“So I think we’re doing a good job of that, but there’s still a long way to go and there will be more ups and there will be more downs. So we just have to try and stay as even-keel as we can.”
Mark Kingston is in his seventh season with the Gamecocks. SC advanced to a Super Regional last season before falling to Florida with a spot in the College World Series on the line.
