Coaches Poll Top 25 College Basketball Rankings released after Selection Sunday

The USA TODAY Coaches Poll Top 25 has been updated following a loaded week of college basketball, where conference tournaments took place and Selection Sunday put a capper on an intense couple of days in the sport.
Many of the top teams in the country were able to stamp their mark on the week during their conference tournament runs, while others fell in the process against heightened competition. It’s all led to some serious changes throughout the Top 25, ahead of the NCAA Tournament.
With that in mind, the sport’s brightest coaching minds put their brains together to come up with some rankings. Check out the Top 25 below, and see if your team made the cut as it’s time to put up or shut up in college basketball.
1. Duke
Duke overcame a sprained right ankle to their star player in Cooper Flagg to win the ACC Tournament. They capped off their impressive run with an 11-point win over Louisville in the finale inside the Spectrum Center.
Now, the Blue Devils will turn their attention to the NCAA Tournament, as they look to go on a national title run. Flagg should be ready for the Round of 64, where Duke will face either Mount St. Mary’s or American.
2. Houston

Houston capped off an incredible regular season with a dominating run in the Big 12 Tournament. The Cougars won all of their games, and they weren’t particularly close, including their eight-point dub in the title game against Arizona.
This could be the season Houston finally reaches the pinnacle of college basketball. They’ll face Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in their first game on Thursday afternoon.
3. Florida (+1)
Florida rose above and won the SEC Tournament over the past week, and they’ve been rewarded for it in the polls and the bracket. They moved above Auburn, and captured a No. 1-seed for March, and their resume showed it was more than deserved.
Now, the Gators won’t play again until Friday evening. Norfolk State will be their opponent, with that game taking place in Raleigh, North Carolina.
4. Auburn (-1)
Auburn has faltered a bit in the past week. Still, they’re among the top teams in all of college basketball, and they captured a No. 1-seed on Selection Sunday, even after failing to make the finals of the SEC Tournament.
They’ll have to wait to see who they play in the Round of 64. It’ll either be St. Francis (PA) or Alabama State when the time comes.
5. St. John’s

St. John’s has captured the hearts of New York City throughout the 2024-25 season. Now, after winning the Big East Tournament, the Red Storm are looking to continue their amazing campaign throughout March.
Their first chance in the NCAA Tournament will come on Thursday, as they have a late game against Omaha. As a No. 2-seed, they’re getting the respect they deserve, and now it’s time to make good on that under Rick Pitino’s leadership.
6. Tennessee
Tennessee made it to the end of the SEC Tournament, but they couldn’t close the deal. Florida got the best of them, as the Volunteers fell by nine to their conference rival.
Still, Rick Barnes’ squad got the respect they earned from the Selection Committee. They’re a No. 2-seed, and they’ll play Wofford on Thursday evening.
7. Michigan State (-1)
Michigan State couldn’t cap an incredible regular season with a Big Ten Tournament win. They made it to the semifinals, but Wisconsin got the best of them by three points.

Their focus is on to the NCAA Tournament now. Bryant will be their opponent, and that game will come Friday evening inside Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
8. Alabama

Alabama had dreams of winning the SEC Tournament. Those were dashed by Florida, as the Gators put a beating on the Crimson Tide in the semifinals, winning by 22 points.
Still, Nate Oats has a dangerous team once again in March. Alabama will be a tough out, and their first opportunity to strut their stuff will come against Robert Morris on Friday afternoon.
9. Texas Tech
Texas Tech couldn’t overcome Arizona in the Big 12 Tournament. Still, they finished the regular season in impressive fashion, and they received a No. 3-seed from the Selection Committee.
The Red Raiders are a sneaky team heading into the NCAA Tournament. Their first test will come against UNC Wilmington on Thursday night in Wichita, Kansas.
10. Wisconsin (+4)
Wisconsin made it to the finals of the Big Ten Tournament. They defeated Michigan State in the semifinals, but they couldn’t overcome Michigan on Sunday afternoon, as the Wolverines cut down the nets after a six-point win.
The Badgers figure to make a run in the NCAA Tournament though. They’re a No. 3-seed, and their first game will come against Montana on Thursday afternoon. That one will emanate from Denver, Colorado.
