The USA TODAY Coaches Poll Top 25 has been updated following a tremendous twelfth week for the 2024-2025 men’s college basketball season.
With conferences showdowns raging on, the schedule is providing some awesome matchups and intriguing results. Many of the top teams in the country were still able to stamp their mark on the week, while others fell in the process, leading to some serious changes throughout the Top 25.
With that in mind, the sport’s brightest coaching minds put their brains together to come up with some rankings after Week 12. Check out the Top 25 below, and see if your team made the cut as the season progresses.
1. Auburn
Auburn survived a monstrous showdown against Tennessee over the weekend. The Tigers were victorious by two over the Volunteers in the process.
At 18-1, Bruce Pearl’s team will look to keep the good times rolling during the final week of January. Their next game will come on Wednesday, as they take a trip to Baton Rouge to face the LSU Tigers.
2. Duke

Duke continues their winning ways over the weekend. The Blue Devils defeated Wake Forest by seven on the road.
Cooper Flagg’s 24 points helped them get the job done in a tough conference matchup. Next up for Duke is a home game against NC State on Monday evening.
3. Iowa State (+1)
Iowa State advanced to 17-2 with a win over Arizona State on Saturday. The Cyclones were led by Curtis Jones, who dropped 33 points against the Sun Devils.
They’ll be in Tucson on Monday, facing Arizona. The Wildcats will be hoping to deliver Iowa State their third loss of the 2024-25 campaign.
4. Alabama (-1)
Alabama is 17-3 on the season after their win at home against LSU over the weekend. Aden Holloway’s 19 points off the bench helped the Crimson Tide notch another win on the season.
They’ll be on the road to start this new week. Alabama will face Mississippi State on Wednesday, as they look to stay hot.
5. Houston
![Houston](https://on3static.com/uploads/dev/assets/cms/2025/01/27113931/Houston-2-1024x512.jpg)
Houston captured one of their biggest wins of the season over the weekend, surviving a double-overtime battle with Kansas. They trailed by seven at the half, but the Cougars fought all the way back for the dub.
J’Wan Roberts’ 24 points helped their cause. A trip to West Virginia is on the docket for Wednesday, Houston’s next contest.
6. Florida
Florida is on a three-game winning-streak since their loss to Missouri. A 30-point win at home against Georgia has them feeling fine after the weekend that was.
Four players in their starting lineup had at least 14 during the win, and Thomas Haugh added 13 off the bench. They’ll need that and then some during their next game, a weekend trip to Knoxville to face Tennessee on Saturday.
7. Michigan State (+1)
Michigan State is on fire. They’re 17-2 and undefeated in the Big Ten after their win against Rutgers inside Madison Square Garden over the weekend.

Tennessee kept it close, but they couldn’t defeat No. 1 Auburn over the weekend. Zakai Zeigler’s 14 points simply weren’t enough, even though he led the team.
The Vols are back in action on Tuesday at least. Kentucky will make the trip from Lexington to Knoxville, as Tennessee hopes to bounce back in a nice fashion.
9. Marquette (+1)
Marquette is having another solid campaign, with their record 17-3 and 8-1 inside the Big East. A 13-point win over Villanova helped their cause over the weekend.
This week, they’ll face Butler on Tuesday. However, their contest with UConn on Saturday is what most of the country will be looking forward to, as they examine the schedule.
10. Purdue (+2)
Purdue moved to 16-5 with their win over Michigan on Friday. They took care of business and then some, dropping 91 points on the Wolverines in the process.
Their next contest will come next Friday, when they welcome Indiana to town. That game should be a doozy, and it’s their only showdown of the entire week, so it’ll have their full, unfiltered focus.
