The USA TODAY Coaches Poll Top 25 has been updated following an intoxicating second week for the 2024-2025 men’s college basketball season.

A couple of huge games shook up this week’s edition. Duke fell to Kentucky on Tuesday, and then Friday brought some sustained destruction, as Purdue defeated Alabama, and Arizona lost to Wisconsin.

With that in mind, the sport’s brightest coaching minds put their brains together to come up with some rankings after Week 2. Check out the Top 25 below, and see if your team made the cut following the second week of a new campaign.

1. Kansas

Kansas remains in the top spot. The Jayhawks defeated Michigan State during the State Farm Champions Classic during their most recent game, advancing to 3-0.

Their next game will be Saturday night against a 1-2 Oakland team. Then, they’ll face UNC Wilmington on Tuesday in Lawrence.

2. Connecticut (+1)

Connecticut remains one of the top teams in the country, as expected. They’re 3-9 following a 41-point win over Le Moyne on Wednesday evening.

The Huskies will face East Texas A&M in their next contest. That one will take place Tuesday inside Gampel Pavilion.

3. Auburn (+1)

Auburn continues their climb up the rankings. The Tigers defeated Kent State on Wednesday, advancing to 3-0 on the season.

Next up for Auburn is a Monday showdown with North Alabama. The Tigers will look to continue their undefeated November inside Neville Arena.

4. Gonzaga (+1)

Gonzaga continued their consistent start to the 2024-25 campaign on Friday evening. They defeated UMass Lowell by over 50 points, an absolute drubbing of their opponent.

The schedule will tighten up a bit at the end of the month, but a tough contest is on the docket for next week. The Bulldogs will match wits with San Diego State on Monday.

5. Iowa State (+2)

Iowa State cyclones forward Milan Momcilovic (22) takes a three point shot around Kansas City Roos’ guard/forward Cameron Faas (30) during the first half in the NCAA men’s basketball at Hilton Coliseum on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, in Ames, Iowa.

Iowa State has only played two games, but they’ve won them handily. Their last contest was a drubbing of Kansas City on Monday evening, which evidently was good enough to get them into the top five.

Next up for the Cyclones is a matchup with IU Indy on Monday. However, a clash with the Auburn Tigers looms large the following Monday in Maui.

6. Purdue (+6)

Purdue climbed up the rankings with a huge win on Friday. The Boilermakers welcomed Alabama to West Lafayette, and they sent the Crimson Tide home with a major loss.

It was a nine-point game, and a nice feather in Purdue’s cap to begin the season. Next up is a date with Marquette on Tuesday evening, so it won’t get much easier for the Boilermakers.

7-T. Houston (+3)

Houston is continuing to rebuild their resume after falling to Auburn last week. The Cougars dismantled Louisiana on Wednesday, taking out some serious frustration, it seemed.

They’ll face Hofstra next Friday, but the game that follows is what’s on everyone’s mind. Houston has a date with Alabama on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

7-T. Alabama (-5)

Alabama took a bit of a tumble due to their loss to Purdue. The Crimson Tide made it close, but they couldn’t overcome the Boilermakers in West Lafayette.

They’ll have a chance to bounce back next week, at least. Alabama will welcome Illinois to Birmingham for a showdown in the C.M. Newton Classic on Wednesday.

9. Tennessee

Tennessee advanced to 3-0 with a win over Montana on Wednesday. The Volunteers haven’t been tested much in 2024, but that’s a testament to their talent at the moment.

They’ll finished out their week with a nice victory over Austin Peay on Sunday in Knoxville, winning by 35 points. Next, they’ll head to the Bahamas, where the Virginia Cavaliers await them on Thursday evening.

10. Duke (-4)

Duke fell due to their loss against Kentucky earlier last week. However, they followed it up with a huge win back at Cameron Indoor Stadium, as the Blue Devils defeated Wofford on Saturday afternoon.

There’s no rest for the weary. They’ll travel to Tucson for a date with the Arizona Wildcats on Friday, followed by a monster showdown with the Kansas Jayhawks on the following Tuesday in the Terry’s Chocolate Vegas Showdown.
