The USA TODAY Coaches Poll Top 25 has been updated following a wonderful ninth week for the 2024-2025 men’s college basketball season.

As we turn the page from 2024 to 2025, conference play is picking up, and some incredible matchups brought some fascinating results to the forefront. Still, many of the top teams in the country were able to prevail, even if the competition is getting stiffer.

With that in mind, the sport’s brightest coaching minds put their brains together to come up with some rankings after Week 9. Check out the Top 25 below, and see if your team made the cut following the second week of a new campaign.

1. Tennessee

Tennessee finished 2024 in solid fashion, defeating Norfolk State by 15 on New Year’s Eve. Then, they started 2025 with a bang, taking the fight to Arkansas in Knoxville and winning by 24.

This week, the undefeated Volunteers will face two tough SEC foes. A trip to Florida is on the docket on Tuesday, followed by a Saturday showdown with Texas.

2. Auburn

Auburn won both of their games over the past week. First, they defeated Monmouth handily, and then they followed it up with a win over Missouri to kickoff 2025.

They’ll hope to keep the good times rolling this week. The Tigers will play Texas and South Carolina over the next couple to days.

3. Iowa State

Iowa State continued their winning ways. The Cyclones defeated Colorado and Baylor to advance to 12-1 on their current campaign.

Next up is a showdown with Utah on Tuesday. Then, Iowa State will face Texas Tech on Saturday. Two interesting Big 12 clashes.

4. Duke

Duke defeated Virginia Tech on New Year’s Eve. Afterwards, they beat SMU, welcoming them to the ACC with a big loss.

Moving forward, a date with Pittsburgh is on the docket for Tuesday. Then, the Blue Devils have Notre Dame on the schedule.

5. Alabama (+1)

Alabama took care of business to start off 2025. The Crimson Tide gave Oklahoma their first loss of the season, defeating them by 28 points.

What’s next for Nate Oats’ team? A clash with South Carolina on Wednesday, and Texas A&M on Saturday.

6. Marquette (+2)

Marquette won both of their contests this week. Providence was their first victim, and Creighton followed suit afterwards.

At 13-2 on the season, it’s easy to see why the Golden Eagles are feared. Georgetown is up next, that game taking place on Tuesday.

7. Kentucky (+4)

Kentucky seems to be on a mission. They defeated Brown to end their 2024, and they started 2025 off with a bang, defeated previously undefeated Florida.

The schedule won’t lighten for the Wildcats though. Georgia and Mississippi State are up next this week.

8. Florida (-3)

Florida only had one game this week, and it certainly was a doozy. The Gators suffered their first loss of the season, falling by six to Kentucky on the road.

Their schedule doesn’t get any easier this week. The Gators will face undefeated Tennessee on Tuesday, and Arkansas on Saturday afternoon.

9. Texas A&M (+3)

Texas A&M have been on fire. The Aggies advanced their record to 12-2 this past week, capping off their impressive stretch with a win over Texas.

Oklahoma is next on the docket, and Alabama is to follow. The road won’t get easier, but bet against Texas A&M at your own risk.

10. Connecticut (+3)

Connecticut is bouncing back after a tough stretch. They advanced to 12-3 after a couple of dubs this week.

Villanova and Georgetown are up next for the Huskies. It should be a fascinating week for the reigning champions of the college basketball world.
