Coaches Poll Top 25 College Football Rankings released after Week 14
The latest Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings are in following Week 14 of college football and there were definitely some changes, as expected.
Rivalry week was insane all holiday weekend. Flag planting, upsets, chaos and more. What more could you want?
Let’s dive into the latest Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings following Week 14.
1. Oregon
Oregon finished the regular season undefeated with a dominant win over Washington. Now, the Ducks take on Penn State, surprisingly, in the Big Ten Championship.
Everything is in front of the Ducks and Dan Lanning. Win and get the No. 1 seed and have the clearest path to a national title.
2. Texas (+1)
Texas edged Texas A&M with elite defense Saturday night. It wasn’t really pretty anywhere else.
Still, Texas is 11-1 and will play Georgia for the SEC title. It’s a matter of a first round bye or a first round game for the Longhorns. Can they beat Georgia in a rematch on a neutral site?
3. Penn State (+1)
Penn State just continued to do its own job and dominated Maryland. The Nittany Lions received some good grace with Ohio State losing to Michigan, putting PSU in the Big Ten Championship.
Now it’s up to James Franklin and his crew to get over the hump. Can they knock off an undefeated Oregon team and get a first round bye in the playoffs?
4. Notre Dame (+1)
Notre Dame won its 10th game in a row to finish the regular season 11-1 and practically lock up a playoff spot. The Fighting Irish made us all forget about that Northern Illinois loss.
The real challenge begins now as Notre Dame has to play a first round game. With no conference affiliation, it’ll be four wins to win it all.
5. Georgia (+1)
Georgia just beat rival Georgia Tech Friday night and awaited their SEC Championship opponent. Here comes Texas for a rematch!
Say what you want about Georgia being 10-2 and not as good as year’s past. The Bulldogs are still playing for the SEC crown and a first round bye in the playoff next week.
6. Tennessee (+2)
Tennessee shook off an ugly start and beat Vanderbilt to secure a 10-win season. In reality, that should be good enough to get into the College Football Playoff.
Unfortunately, the Vols don’t have any more control over what happens next. They’ll watch Georgia and Texas play for the SEC crown and wait.
7. SMU (+2)
SMU just took care of business Saturday, dominating Cal 38-6 and finishing 11-1. Now, the Mustangs get Clemson in the ACC Championship after Syracuse upset Miami.

The bigger question is if SMU is going to be in the playoff regardless of the result next week. Perhaps they earned it but a win would secure the spot of course.
8. Ohio State (-6)
Ohio State was bound to tumble following the stunning loss to Michigan. The flag planting controversy at the end of the game didn’t help perception either.
The Buckeyes won’t play for the Big Ten title but are probably still in the bracket at 10-2. It might just be a matter of if they’re hosting a first round game or heading to hostile territory.
9. Indiana (+1)
Indiana throttled Purdue 66-0 to forget about that loss to Ohio State. At 11-1, it’s hard to keep the Hoosiers out of the playoffs.
Did Indiana do enough to get a home game? That remains to be seen. But at this point, it’d be stunning to see Curt Cignetti and crew not in the bracket.
10. Boise State (+1)
Boise State did what it had to do: keep winning. The Broncos beat Oregon State 34-18, Ashton Jeanty went off and the team is now 11-1.
To secure a playoff spot, they just have to win the Mountain West title game next week. A win there and Boise State might actually secure the first round bye after all!
