Coaches Poll Top 25 College Football Rankings released after Week 6
The latest Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings are in following Week 6 of college football and there were definitely some changes, as expected.
There were upsets all over the place, such as Alabama losing to Vanderbilt, USC and Michigan losing in the Big Ten and Tennessee falling at Arkansas. Good luck figuring out who’s the best!
Let’s dive into the latest Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings following Week 6.
1. Texas
Texas had the week off to rest up and avoid any chaos of Week 6. Quinn Ewers could very well be back for Week 7 when the Longhorns take on Oklahoma.
If for some reason, he can’t go, Arch Manning will be back in there. Either way, Texas looks to stay unbeaten and claim the title of best team in college football.
2. Ohio State (+1)
Ohio State dominated once again and it just looks too easy for them. You can give the Buckeyes a good body shot early on, but they’ll deliver the knockout bowl.
Ohio State beat down Iowa 35-7 at home to remain undefeated. Oregon is up next, but Ryan Day’s crew looks to be in a class of their own.
3. Oregon (+3)
Oregon and Ohio State will play this coming weekend to claim the top spot in the Big Ten. The Ducks did what the Buckeyes did this weekend, blowout a Big Ten opponent.
Of course, this might not be the only time we see Oregon and Ohio State face off. This could very well be the Big Ten Championship Game in a couple of months.
4. Georgia (+1)
Georgia has the opposite feeling of Alabama this week. Because the Bulldogs won. After losing to the Crimson Tide on the road, they rebounded at home with a win over Auburn.
Carson Beck fired two touchdowns and Trevor Etienne scored two more on the ground. It was a pretty balanced approach in a 31-13 win and positive movement in the Coaches Poll followed.
5. Penn State (+2)
Penn State hung tough and controlled the win over UCLA. The Bruins didn’t score until, practically, garbage time to make it 27-11.
Otherwise, the Nittany Lions remained undefeated, Kaytron Allen led the way on the ground with 78 yards and a score. Drew Allar was solid, throwing for 237 yards and a touchdown, while also running for one.
6. Miami (+2)
The Hurricanes avoided disaster, again. Following last week’s nail biter against Virginia Tech, Miami erased a four score deficit to win 39-38 on the road.
Thanks to Cam Ward for leading the charge, Miami scored four touchdowns on four possessions to end the game. Of course, Francisco Mauigoa grabbed the game-winning interception with five seconds left. ‘Canes are still unbeaten.

7. Alabama (-5)
Alabama was on top of the world last week with a win over Georgia and it’s the opposite feeling Sunday. A loss to Vanderbilt is brutal, especially off of the high of last week.
Of course, the Crimson Tide can easily bounce back and still compete for the SEC title and top spot in the College Football Playoff. They’ll have to regroup quickly though as they tumbled down the Coaches Poll.
8. Ole Miss (+3)
Ole Miss got back to its winning ways with an SEC victory over South Carolina. It was much needed after last week’s upset loss to Kentucky.
Now we wait and see if Lane Kiffin’s crew can remain consistent. It doesn’t get any easier as Ole Miss plays LSU and Oklahoma in two of the next three weeks. Good thing there’s a bye week on October 19th.
9. Tennessee (-5)
Tennessee fell victim to an upset as well, falling on the road to Arkansas. It wasn’t pretty for the high powered Volunteers’ attack.
Nico Iamaleava was 16-of-28 for 156 yards in the 19-14 loss. Dylan Sampson came to play though, running 22 times for 140 yards and the two touchdowns.
10. LSU (+2)
LSU had a week off following the 42-10 win over South Alabama. Sitting at 4-1, Brian Kelly and company can definitely climb back up the SEC pecking order with a win over Ole Miss next week.
We’ve seen the rise of Texas A&M after Game No. 1. It could very well be the same scenario for the Tigers after this next weekend. But for now, back in the top 10 of the Coaches Poll.
