Coaches Poll Top 25 College Football Rankings released after Week 9
On3

The latest Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings are in following Week 9 of college football and there were definitely some changes, as expected.

Oregon dominated and remained undefeated, as did Penn State in the Big Ten. Texas survived an upset scare and the ACC is heating up!

Let’s dive into the latest Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings following Week 9.

1. Oregon

Oregon dominated Illinois over the weekend to remain undefeated and it might be time to start thinking if the Ducks can win it all. Already with a win over Ohio State, they’re the current Big Ten favorites.

Dillon Gabriel threw for 291 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Oregon built a 35-3 lead at halftime and cruised in the final 30 minutes.

2. Georgia

Georgia had a bye week this weekend following a win over Texas. So with a week off, it was an extra week to get healthy and prepare for Florida.

The Bulldogs returned in a big way when it came to beating the Longhorns. This team is squarely in the mix for the SEC and is a national title contender.

3. Penn State

Penn State remained undefeated with a win on the road against Wisconsin. But the Nittany Lions lost Drew Allar to injury ahead of a massive game against Ohio State.

Beau Pribula filled in nicely though, going 11 of 13 passing for 98 yards and a touchdown. Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton might have to carry the offense more next week in the run game.

4. Ohio State

Ohio State can breathe a sigh of relief following that win over Nebraska. The Huskers had the game won, but could only punch it into the end zone twice.

Big credit to Ohio State’s defense for winning the game, as well as Will Howard’s steady hand at quarterback. Now, all attention turns to Penn State on the road next weekend.

5. Miami

Miami had some very close games lately, but the Hurricanes dominated Florida State 36-14. By dispatching their in-state foes, Miami emerged as the top program in Florida currently.

Cam Ward didn’t throw a touchdown but threw for 208 yards. Meanwhile, Damien Martinez had 148 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and the Hurricanes remained undefeated.

6. Texas

Quinn Ewers is trying to get back in the groove of things and did throw for 288 yards and three touchdowns. However, the Texas QB threw two picks.

Still, the Longhorns got the win to improve to 7-1 against a solid Vanderbilt team, but it was dicey in the end. The Longhorns should be favored in its next three games after a bye, but the season finale against Texas A&M has game of the year potential.

7. Tennessee (+1)

Tennessee had a week off following a massive win over Alabama the other weekend. Now, they’ll pivot towards Kentucky for the final stretch of the schedule.

The Volunteers are in the thick of the SEC and College Football Playoff race with just one loss. They’ll be a fascinating watch in November.

8. Clemson (+1)

Clemson won a shootout over Virginia last weekend and had this weekend off. The Tigers have six in a row and with five games left, they could very well be favored in all of them.

First, it’s Loiusivlle and Virginia Tech the next two weeks. But everyone is circling the game against Pitt on November 16 should both teams keep winning.

9. Notre Dame (+2)

Notre Dame absolutely dominated this game against Navy to improve to 7-1 on the season. The Fighting Irish caused six turnovers in this one after the Midshipmen didn’t even fumble all year.

Riley Leonard was responsible for three touchdowns on offense and Jeremiyah Love ran for 102 yards and two scores. Onto the next one.

10. Iowa State

Iowa State is still undefeated but the Cyclones had a bye week this weekend following a win over UCF on October 19. Next up, it’s Texas Tech coming to town.

The Cyclones should be favored the rest of the way and if results hold, their Big 12 title game spot could be on the line against Kansas State to end the regular season.
