Colin Cowherd reverses course, calls for Notre Dame upset alert vs. USC
Colin Cowherd called his shot during Wednesday’s The Herd, saying Notre Dame could get bounced by USC this weekend.
In actuality, Cowherd called for the Trojans to cover the 7.5 points when playing Notre Dame. But as he convinced himself to pick USC this weekend, it sounded more like he was leaning towards picking them outright.
Either way, Notre Dame is on upset alert against USC.
“Rivalry week and championship week. Anything can happen,” Cowherd said. “I’ll give you an example … I reversed my pick. I’m taking USC +7.5 points to keep it close on Notre Dame. Why? Full stadium in LA, Lincoln Riley’s emptying the tank, they got nothing to lose. They feel good after beating UCLA and Notre Dame’s only faced two ranked teams since September. Every single USC game is close, the Coliseum will be lit. They’ve got playmakers. Notre Dame steps up in class. USC beat LSU, and they should have beaten Penn State in overtime at home. To me, it’s 27-26, 28-27. Don’t be shocked if Notre Dame gets bounced.”
Marcus Freeman and his Notre Dame squad recognizes they’re likely headed to the College Football Playoff if they can defeat the USC Trojans in Week 14.

It’s no small feat that the Fighting Irish control their own destiny, especially after slipping up against Northern Illinois earlier this season. That fact isn’t lost on Freeman and company, as they’re trying to keep the main thing the main thing ahead of this weekend’s showdown with USC.
“They know that. We know that. I know that. That’s reality,” Freeman said, regarding his team controlling their own destiny, via a press conference on Monday.
“But all I continue to remind myself and them is that it’s human nature. Every person in this room, every person watching this, we all tend to drift into the future. We all tend to daydream about a future that’s uncertain. So, I always challenge them, it’s the thought after the thought. You start thinking about things other than right now, remind yourself to get back into the moment, and take care of what you have guaranteed right in front of you, and that’s right now.”
