College baseball season has officially come to an end. Following LSU’s national championship victory over Coastal Carolina in the College World Series, D1Baseball has released its final top 25 rankings for the 2025 season.

The rankings, of course, are led by LSU and Coastal Carolina, with the Tigers at No. 1 after winning the title in Omaha and the Chanticleers as the runners up. The championship series was fueled by controversy, with Game 2 starting with a viral ejection by Coastal head coach Kevin Schnall.

D1Baseball’s top 25 features the final eight teams standing at the top. In addition to LSU and Coastal Carolina, the remaining top eight spots are filled with teams that reached Omaha, as expected.

Notably, Vanderbilt and Texas, the top two overall seeds in the NCAA Tournament, find themselves at No. 18 and No. 17.

1. LSU

To no surprise, LSU sits at No. 1 in the final D1Baseball top 25 after winning its second national championship in three seasons under Jay Johnson. The Tigers dominated throughout the postseason.

Facing the hottest team in the country in the CWS Finals, LSU rolled through Coastal Carolina to sweep the best-of-three series. Jay Johnson just knows how to win.

2. Coastal Carolina

Even after losing at the end, Coastal Carolina just went on a special run. They dominated from start to finish this season, cruising through the Sun Belt and carrying a winning streak that exceeded 20 games entering the series against LSU.

While Coastal Carolina couldn’t win their second national championship since 2016, they showed that they aren’t going anywhere under Kevin Schnall. They’re hoping this run was a sign of things to come.

3. Arkansas

Arkansas made it out of their regional, and then hosted Tennessee in Fayetteville for a super regional. The Razorbacks swept the Volunteers to reach Omaha.

After losing its Omaha opener to LSU, Arkansas battled back into the final in Bracket 2. They came up just short in a 6-5 loss to LSU, unable to force the if necessary game. Gage Wood also made history with his no-hitter to knock out Murray State.

4. Oregon State

Oregon State didn’t make it to the Bracket 1 final, but they still find themselves ranked in the top four of D1Baseball’s top 25. The Beavers won their regional and then defeated Florida State 2-1 in the super regional round to reach the College World Series.

In Omaha, Oregon State won their opener vs. Louisville before losing to Coastal Carolina. The Beavers then lost to Louisville, falling short of the bracket final.

5. UCLA

UCLA hosted as the No. 15 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, and they went on a special run to Omaha. After winning their regional and sweeping UTSA in super regionals, the Bruins kicked off their stay in Omaha with a victory against Murray State.

Unfortunately for UCLA, that was their final win of the season. They lost their next two games, to LSU and Arkansas, to be eliminated just short of the bracket final.

6. Louisville

Louisville, perhaps, is one of the most unlikely runs of this season. As the 2-seed in Nashville, hosted by No. 1 overall seed Vanderbilt, the Cardinals shocked the country by advancing to super regionals. They then took two out of three at home in a wild super regional against Miami.

After losing its Omaha opener to Oregon State, Louisville defeated Arizona and then Oregon State to reach the Bracket 1 final. The run ended there though, losing to Coastal Carolina.

7. Arizona

Arizona was another team on the road during regionals, but they went to Eugene and won the regional hosted by Oregon. The Wildcats then stole the Chapel Hill Super Regional against North Carolina with a 2-1 series win.

Arizona’s stay was short lived in the College World Series, falling to Coastal Carolina and then Louisville to be eliminated. It was still one heck of a run.

8. Murray State

Murray State was undoubtedly the talk of this NCAA Tournament. They went into the Oxford Regional hosted by Ole Miss, and walked out as regional champions. They then defeated Duke 2-1 in the Durham Super Regional to reach the College World Series.

Murray State’s run ended there, though, going 0-2 with losses to UCLA and Arkansas. Still, both games were competitive and they showed they belonged, and they’re rewarded at No. 8 in the final D1Baseball top 25.

9. North Carolina

After winning their regional at home, North Carolina’s fate was not the same in super regionals. The Tar Heels were viewed as maybe the favorites to win it all entering the postseason.

Instead, North Carolina won in dominating fashion against Arizona in Game 1 before stumbling in each of the final two games to lose in heartbreaking fashion. Just a couple defensive miscues made all the difference.

10. Florida State

Florida State made it out of their regional, sweeping their way through to move within two wins of a return to Omaha. They then matched up with Oregon State at home.

It was the Beavers who came away happy, taking the super regional 2-1 to eliminate the Seminoles. It was still quite the year for Link Jarrett’s squad.
