March is here, and yes, that means the NCAA Tournament is approaching in basketball. But it also means that college baseball is heating up and conference play is getting closer on the diamond. The third weekend of the season brought a ton of intrigue, and there’s a new No. 1 team in the latest D1Baseball top 25 rankings.

In addition to a few talent-filled multi-team tournaments across the country, we also saw a traditional three-game series between two ranked teams; No. 22 Southern Miss at No. 25 TCU. The two teams split the opening two games of the series, and left it up to Sunday’s rubber match, which Southern Miss won.

It was also rivalry weekend, headlined by No. 8 Florida vs. Miami and then No. 13 Clemson vs. South Carolina, among others.

After the action, D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings have been shaken up in a pretty big way. There is a new No. 1 team with Texas A&M falling, and there’s plenty of movement throughout the top 25 with multiple new teams as well.

1. LSU

Previous Ranking: No. 2 (+1)
Weekly Record: 5-0
Overall Record: 11-1

LSU’s strong week, paired with Texas A&M falling, has the Tigers moving up in this week’s D1Baseball rankings. They started on Monday with a 13-3 win over Nicholls, before defeating No. 19 Dallas Baptist 7-3 on Wednesday. In the Frisco College Baseball Classic, LSU impressed even more with an 8-5 win over Kansas State, an 11-6 win over Nebraska, and won Sunday against Sam Houston to finish the sweep.

2. Tennessee

Overall Record: 11-0

Everyone’s taking notice of how good Tennessee has been to start the season. The Vols, after a 7-5 midweek win over North Alabama to start the week, cruised through the Astros Foundation College Classic. Tennessee beat Oklahoma State 5-2 on Friday, Rice 13-3 on Saturday and Arizona 5-1 on Sunday to sweep the week yet again, and move up in the rankings.

3. Arkansas

Previous Ranking: No. 4 (+1)
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 10-1

Arkansas cruised through Grambling with a 14-3 midweek victory to begin its week, and then battled Charlotte over the weekend. Charlotte jumped out early in the opener on Friday, but a massive comeback gave the Razorbacks an 11-10 win to open the weekend. They then won 8-5 on Saturday to clinch the series. Going for the sweep on Sunday, Arkansas won a tight 4-3 game to do just that.

4. North Carolina

Previous Ranking: No. 5 (+1)
Weekly Record: 6-0
Overall Record: 12-0

You don’t see six-game weeks very often, but that’s exactly what UNC just played. Thursday was their only off day, after wins over ECU on Monday, VCU on Tuesday and North Carolina A&T on Wednesday to begin the action. UNC hosted Stony Brook over the weekend, and enjoyed another successful weekend with a 16-2 win on Friday, a 6-1 win on Saturday and a 9-5 win on Sunday. They are one of quite a few teams in the top ten to move up a spot in the latest D1Baseball top 25 rankings.

5. Georgia

Previous Ranking: No. 6 (+1)
Weekly Record: 5-0
Overall Record: 13-1

It was an interesting week for Georgia, who started with a 7-3 road midweek win over Georgia State on Wednesday. They then hosted Florida Gulf Coast over the weekend, and Friday’s opener was a crazy game that required the Bulldogs to come back in a 10-9 win. Georgia then took both ends of Saturday’s doubleheader, 10-0 and 9-8, to clinch the series. On Sunday, the Bulldogs won another tight game, this time 4-3, to finish the sweep.

6. Florida State

Previous Ranking: No. 7 (+1)
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 11-0

Florida State’s week began on Wednesday, earning a road win over Jacksonville. The Seminoles then returned home to host Georgetown, and they mostly cruised their way to a sweep. FSU started the weekend with a 7-2 victory in Friday’s opener, and they clinched the series with an 11-2 win on Saturday. The Seminoles finished the sweep with a 4-3 win on Sunday.

7. Florida

Previous Ranking: No. 8 (+1)
Weekly Record: 4-1
Overall Record: 11-1

A year after struggling early in the season, Florida has shown no signs of weakness thus far in 2025. The Gators won 6-1 at Stetson and 7-6 vs. North Florida in their two midweek games, and then hosted Miami over the weekend. There, Florida won 6-2 on Friday and 6-3 on Saturday to take the series. On Sunday, the Gators fell 13-7, falling just short of a sweep. Regardless, the Gators move up a spot in D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings.

8. Oregon State

Previous Ranking: No. 9 (+1)
Weekly Record: 2-1
Overall Record: 7-3

Oregon State struggled last weekend and dropped in D1Baseball’s rankings as a result. This week, the Beavers were part of the College Baseball Series in Arlington in a solid field. Oregon State defeated Baylor 4-3 on Friday, but then fell 8-7 against Auburn on Saturday. On Sunday against Ohio State, the Beavers out-slugged the Buckeyes to win 12-10 and win the weekend.

9. Virginia

Previous Ranking: No. 10 (+1)
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 7-3

Virginia has had an up-and-down start to the season, and entered this week heading in the wrong direction. That didn’t stop them from getting back on track, though. Virginia won 6-4 against VMI on Tuesday to get back on track, and then hosted Dartmouth for a three-game series over the weekend. There, Virginia won 11-3 on Friday, 11-1 on Saturday and 13-3 on Sunday to earn a dominating sweep.

10. Oregon

Previous Ranking: No. 11
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 10-2

If we learned one thing this weekend, it’s that Oregon can score runs. The Ducks hosted Columbia for a four-game weekend series and quite frankly, it wasn’t close. After a 20-11 win on Friday, Oregon won 35-1 on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader. That’s not a typo. The Ducks then won 8-3 in the second game of the doubleheader to clinch the weekend, and 7-0 on Sunday to finish an impressive weekend.
