College Baseball Rankings: New No. 1 headlines latest D1Baseball top 25

What a week it was across college baseball. With multiple ranked teams losing series and four top 25 series, there are a lot of changes in D1Baseball’s new top 25 rankings. That includes a new No. 1 team.
Sunday was a big day across the top 25, with three teams heading into a rubber game with the series on the line, and three others hoping to salvage a win to avoid being swept. Nine ranked teams had already clinched their series win before heading into Sunday, with eight teams already done with their weekend.
Of course, the ranked series stole the show in many ways. They were; No. 5 Texas vs. No. 3 Georgia, No. 10 Oklahoma vs. No. 7 LSU, No. 16 Auburn vs. No. 8 Alabama, and No. 11 Oregon State vs. No. 12 UC Irvine.
With RPI normalizing and resumes being built more and more, every weekend feels important across college baseball. With that, a new No. 1 in D1Baseball’s top 25 is significant given the feeling around Tennessee, and it’s far from the only change in this week’s rankings.
1. Arkansas
Previous Ranking: No. 2 (+1)
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 30-3 (11-1 in SEC)
Arkansas is the new top team in D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings, and for good reason. After a 7-4 win against Grambling on Tuesday, the Razorbacks hosted Missouri and cruised through the weekend. They won 21-3 on Saturday in the series opener, setting up a doubleheader on Sunday. There, Arkansas won 14-4 in the first game before taking the finale 16-2.
2. Texas

Previous Ranking: No. 5 (+3)
Weekly Record: 3-1
Overall Record: 26-4 (11-1 in SEC)
After falling 5-3 on Tuesday to Texas State, Texas responded with a massive weekend statement against No. 3 Georgia. Winning the series behind a 5-1 win on Friday and a 7-4 win on Saturday, the Longhorns were hoping to notch another win on Sunday to finish off the sweep. In the finale, Texas won 4-3 via the walk-off in extra innings to complete the sweep.
3. LSU
Previous Ranking: No. 7 (+4)
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 30-3 (10-2 in SEC)
LSU is on the rise in this week’s D1Baseball top 25, to no surprise. The Tigers had a perfect 4-0 week, starting with a 12-3 midweek win against Louisiana Tech. They then went to Norman to take on No. 10 Oklahoma and came away with a series sweep, behind a 2-0 win on Thursday, a 10-2 win on Friday and a 3-2 win on Sunday. That’s an extremely loud statement week.
4. Clemson
Previous Ranking: No. 6 (+2)
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 30-5 (9-3 in ACC)
Clemson’s week began with a 10-8 midweek win over Georgia Southern, and they then traveled across the country to take on Cal over the weekend. The Tigers took the series behind a 6-4 win on Friday and a 7-4 win on Saturday, but wanted to end the weekend with another win to finish the sweep. In the finale, Clemson won a tight 4-3 game to finish the sweep.
5. Tennessee

Previous Ranking: No. 1 (-4)
Weekly Record: 2-2
Overall Record: 28-4 (9-3 in SEC)
Not many had Tennessee penciled in as a potential upset risk this weekend, but here we are. After a 7-1 win vs. Tennessee Tech on Tuesday, the Vols hosted unranked Texas A&M and won 10-0 in Friday’s series opener. Saturday brought a doubleheader to conclude the series, and it also brought the Vols a series defeat. Texas A&M won 9-3 and 17-6 to take the series, stun the Vols, and send them down in this week’s D1Baseball top 25 rankings.
6. Ole Miss
Previous Ranking: No. 9 (+3)
Weekly Record: 3-1
Overall Record: 24-7 (8-4 in SEC)
It was a tight weekend for many top 25 teams, and that includes Ole Miss. The Rebels, after dominating in a midweek win against Jackson State on Tuesday, needed all three games over the weekend to take the series at Kentucky. The Wildcats won 5-4 in the front end of a Friday doubleheader, but the Rebels won 3-1 in the back half to tie the series. Ole Miss then won 5-4 in extras on Saturday, winning the rubber game and taking the series.

7. Georgia
Previous Ranking: No. 3 (-4)
Weekly Record: 1-3
Overall Record: 29-5 (8-4 in SEC)
This was a week to forget for Georgia, who struggled over the weekend at No. 5 Texas following a 21-1 midweek win against Queens on Tuesday. The Bulldogs’ high-powered offense couldn’t get going, falling 5-1 in Friday’s opener and 7-4 on Saturday. Georgia was hoping to avoid a sweep in Sunday’s finale, but instead got walked off in extra innings to finish 0-3 on the weekend.
8. Oregon State

Previous Ranking: No. 11 (+3)
Weekly Record: 2-1
Overall Record: 22-7
Oregon State did not have a midweek contest this week, instead focusing all of their attention on the weekend in a big series against No. 12 UC Irvine. The Beavers were stunned in a 12-0 loss in Friday’s series opener, but responded with a 4-2 win on Saturday to even the series. That brought a rubber game on Sunday, where Oregon State won 7-4 to take the series and move back into the top ten in this week’s D1Baseball top 25.
9. Florida State
Previous Ranking: No. 4 (-5)
Weekly Record: 2-2
Overall Record: 25-6 (8-4 in ACC)
It was a tight battle for Florida State on Tuesday, escaping with an 11-10 victory against Jacksonville to start the week. They then battled Wake Forest over the weekend, winning 5-4 on Friday but falling 12-0 on Saturday. That set up a decisive rubber game that the Seminoles needed to win on Sunday, but instead got blown out with a 17-2 defeat.
This week was far from an easy one for Florida State. They edged out Jacksonville on Tuesday for an 11-10 midweek win to start the week, and then beat Wake Forest 5-4 on Friday to open their weekend series. The Seminoles then fell 12-0 in a rather stunning outcome on Saturday, evening the series and setting up a rubber game on Sunday.
