We’re now through three weeks of college baseball season, and the year has already brought a ton of upsets and surprises. That was on display this week, and for the first time we will have a new No. 1 team in D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings on Monday.

That, of course, is because No. 1 Texas A&M struggled in Houston in the Astros Foundation College Classic. How far will they drop? Well, with essentially the rest of the top ten finding success over their last week, it’s going to be interesting.

Even though the season just started, we’re already getting close to the start of conference play across the country. Some leagues are just a couple of weeks away, and that will bring even more excitement to an already action-packed 2025 season.

For now, though, we’re onto another week and it’s time to project how D1Baseball’s full top 25 rankings will take shape when they are released on Monday, after five ranked teams lost their weekend series.

Note: These projections were published before Texas A&M vs. Rice concluded and will be updated after the game goes final

1. Tennessee

Previous Ranking: No. 3 (+2)
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 11-0

Tennessee just keeps winning, and things were no different in the Astros Foundation College Classic. The Vols, after a 7-5 midweek win over North Alabama, impressed on the opening two days with a 5-2 win over Oklahoma State and a 13-3 win against Rice. Facing a red-hot Arizona team on Sunday, Tennessee won 5-1 to impressively sweep the weekend.

2. LSU

Previous Ranking: No. 2
Weekly Record: 5-0
Overall Record: 11-1

With Texas A&M dropping out of the top spot, LSU is a contender to slide up to No. 1 in D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings. The Tigers’ week began with a 13-3 win over Nicholls on Monday, and then earned a 7-3 midweek win against No. 19 Dallas Baptist on Wednesday. LSU then played in Frisco in the Frisco College Baseball Classic, and they had a great weekend. It started with an 8-5 win vs. Kansas State, and then an 11-6 win over Nebraska to win the weekend. Going for the sweep on Sunday against Sam Houston, LSU got it with a 12-8 win.

3. Arkansas

Previous Ranking: No. 4 (+1)
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 10-1

Arkansas kicked off its week with a dominating 14-3 midweek win over Grambling, and they then hosted Charlotte over the weekend that turned out to be tighter than anybody expected. The Razorbacks needed a monumental comeback on Friday, but they got it to win 11-10. They then won 8-5 on Saturday to clinch the series win, and completed the sweep by winning 4-3 on Sunday, securing a likely move up in D1Baseball’s rankings.

4. North Carolina

Previous Ranking: No. 5 (+1)
Weekly Record: 6-0
Overall Record: 12-0

It was a busy week for UNC with rescheduled games on Monday and Wednesday due to inclement weather last week. That didn’t stop them from having a strong week, though. The Tar Heels defeated ECU 6-3 on Monday, VCU 9-4 on Tuesday and North Carolina A&T 13-4 on Wednesday. Hosting Stony Brook over the weekend, UNC won 16-2 on Friday and 6-1 on Saturday to win the series, and 9-5 to finish the sweep on Sunday.

5. Georgia

Previous Ranking: No. 6 (+1)
Weekly Record: 5-0
Overall Record: 13-1

After picking up a 7-3 midweek victory at Georgia State, Georgia hosted Florida Gulf Coast in a four-game weekend series and it had some scares. The Bulldogs allowed five runs in the opening frame in the series opener, and needed a comeback to win it 10-9 in the ninth. Saturday was a doubleheader, with Georgia winning 10-0 in the first game and 9-8 in extras in the second. The Bulldogs entered Sunday aiming to complete the hard-fought four-game sweep, and they got it with a 4-3 victory.

6. Florida State

Previous Ranking: No. 7 (+1)
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 11-0

Florida State was on the road on Wednesday, defeating Jacksonville 9-6 to kick off the week. The Seminoles then hosted Georgetown over the weekend and cruised their way to a series sweep. Florida State won 7-2 on Friday and 11-2 on Saturday to clinch the series win, and then 4-3 on Sunday to finish the sweep. The Seminoles are one of many teams expected to move up in the top ten in D1Baseball’s rankings.

7. Florida

Previous Ranking: No. 8 (+1)
Weekly Record: 4-1
Overall Record: 11-1

Florida has impressed early in the season, and this week was no different. The Gators picked up a pair of midweek victories to start the week, beating Stetson 6-1 on the road and returning home to beat North Florida 7-6. They then hosted Miami in an intriguing in-state weekend series. Florida won 6-2 on Friday and 6-3 on Saturday to secure the series, but fell short of the sweep after a 13-7 loss on Sunday.

8. Oregon State

Previous Ranking: No. 9 (+1)
Weekly Record: 2-1
Overall Record: 7-3

Oregon State has played in a multi-team event in each of the first three weekends this season. The Beavers, a week after falling in D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings, were in need of a strong showing to get back on track. They started off with a 4-3 win over Baylor on Friday in the College Baseball Series in Arlington, but then fell 8-7 against Auburn on Saturday. Oregon State needed to beat Ohio State on Sunday to win their weekend, and they did so with a high-scoring 12-10 victory.

9. Virginia

Previous Ranking: No. 10 (+1)
Weekly Record: 4-0
Overall Record: 7-3

After a big fall from No. 2 down to No. 10 last week, Virginia got back on track this week. They started things off with a 6-4 midweek win over VMI on Tuesday, and then played host to Dartmouth over the weekend. There, Virginia cruised with 11-3 and 11-1 victories to win the series, and finished the sweep with a 13-3 win on Sunday.

10. Texas A&M

Previous Ranking: No. 1 (-9)
Weekly Record: 1-3
Overall Record: 6-4

Texas A&M has been the No. 1 ranked team all season, but it was a brutal week. The Aggies dropped their midweek matchup against Texas State 7-3, and then struggled in the Astros Foundation College Classic. They first fell 3-2 in a tight game vs. Arizona on Friday before falling 4-0 against Oklahoma State on Saturday. Texas A&M won via the run-rule 14-4 against Rice on Sunday, but they’re guaranteed to drop in D1Baseball’s top 25 rankings.
