College Basketball Rankings: ESPN shakes up BPI Top 25 after massive weekend upsets

The latest ESPN BPI Top 25 is out following a massive weekend of college basketball and there were some shakeups across the board.
We saw some upsets, dominant performances and shifts within the top 10. We’re so close to March Madness and we can’t wait!
Without further ado, let’s dive into ESPN’s latest BPI top 25 as presented Sunday.
1. Duke
We saw what Duke did as MSG, dominated Illinois 110-67 and Cooper Flagg was the star. In just 23 minutes, Flagg showcased why he could be the runaway No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft.
Duke stayed atop the BPI Sunday following the Saturday slate. The Blue Devils are now 24-3 on the season.
2. Houston

Houston had a massive win Saturday and thus stayed in the second spot of the BPI. The Cougars beat fellow top 10 team Iowa State 68-59 at home.
Houston built a 12-point lead at halftime and didn’t falter. LJ Cryer led the way with 28 points, five rebounds and one assist.
3. Auburn
Auburn ran by Georgia, particularly in the second half. Bruce Pearl was quite satisfied beating another SEC foe as the Tigers improved to 25-2 on the season.
While the BPI has them at No. 3, Auburn is still the No. 1 team in the AP Poll. Johni Broome, arguably the best player in the sport as well, put up 31 points, 14 rebounds and four assists.
4. Tennessee
Another banner night for the SEC as Tennessee beat Texas A&M in a clash of two top seven teams in the AP Poll. As far as the BPI is concerned, Tennessee stayed at No. 4 following a 77-69 win on the road.
Chaz Lanier put up 30 points and five rebounds to lead the way. Zakai Zeigler added 16 points, two rebounds and seven assists.
5. Florida (+3)

Florida dominated LSU 79-65 Saturday to win their sixth game in a row. The Gators moved up three spots in the latest BPI ratings and rankings Sunday.
Reuben Chinyelu put up 19 points, 13 rebounds and two assists to lead Florida. Thomas Haugh added 16 points, 10 rebounds and three assists to also log a double-double.
6. Alabama (-1)
Alabama dropped a spot in the BPI, likely only due to Florida’s rise Sunday. The Crimson Tide beat Kentucky 96-83 to break a two-game losing streak.

The losses came to Auburn and Missouri, two quality opponents in the SEC. Next up is Mississippi State on Tuesday, followed by Tennessee, Florida and Auburn. What a gauntlet.
7. Iowa State (-1)
Iowa State fell to Houston, as referenced above, and fell one spot in the BPI. The loss broke a four-game winning streak for the Cyclones.
Milan Momcilovic put up 16 points, five rebounds and one assist in the defeat. Nate Heise added 12 points as the second leading scorer.
8. Arizona (-1)

The Wildcats have now lost three of four games to fall to 18-9 on the season and fell one spot in the BPI. They were upset at home against BYU, 96-95.
Caleb Love put up 27 points, three rebounds and five assists. Tobe Awaka added 14 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.
9. Texas Tech
Texas Tech remained stagnant in the BPI following a win over West Virginia, 73-51 It’s now three wins in four games for the Red Raiders.
JT Toppin put up 22 points, eight rebounds and one assist. Meanwhile, Christian Anderson had 21 points, four rebounds and four assists in the win.
10. Gonzaga (+1)
Gonzaga actually moved up in the BPI despite losing to Saint Mary’s Saturday, 74-67, at home. They leapfrogged Kansas.
In the win, Graham Ike came off the bench and put up 19 points, five rebounds and two assists. Nolan Hickman added 14 points and a rebound.
