College Basketball Rankings: ESPN shakes up BPI Top 25 after turbulent weekend

The latest college basketball rankings are here as ESPN shook up its BPI top 25 after a turbulent weekend slate.

We had marquee matchups, some upsets and others making a statement. With that, the top 10 in the BPI got a facelift as well!

So, let’s dive into the latest BPI top 25, via ESPN’s metrics.

1. Duke

Duke dominated ACC foe Stanford at home 106-70 and we don’t even think it was that close. This was all Blue Devils from the opening tip and they stayed at the top of the BPI.

Tyrese Proctor put up 23 points, two rebounds and four assists. Khaman Maluach added 17 points and six rebounds while Cooper Flagg put up 19 points, five rebounds and six assists.

2. Houston

Houston took out a ranked Arizona squad on the road for one of the biggest wins of the season for the Cougars. After trailing by five at halftime, the Cougars won 62-58.

Milos Uzan put up 19 points, two rebounds and five assists in 38 minutes. LJ Cryer added 15 points, a rebound and two assists as Houston stayed put in the BPI.

3. Auburn

The marquee game of the weekend, No. 1 Auburn and No. 2 Alabama, at least according to the AP Poll. The BPI only has the Tigers at No. 3, but they beat their rival 94-85.

Jonhi Broome led the way with 19 points, 14 rebounds and six assists. Denver Jones added 16 points and a rebound while Miles Kelly had 15 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

4. Tennessee

An epic comeback kept Tennessee in this spot in the BPI. The Vols trailed by 16 at one point, but beat Vanderbilt 81-76 at home.

Zakai Zeigler had 22 points and eight assists while Chaz Lanier added 21 points, eight rebounds and one assist. With those two firing off on all cylinders, Tennessee had a great second half.

5. Alabama (+1)

Despite a loss to Auburn, Alabama actually moved up a spot in the BPI Sunday. The Crimson Tide played host, so you’d think that’d be a negative. Nope.

In the loss, Mark Sears put up 18 points, one rebound and two assists. Grant Nelson added 12 points, 12 rebounds and one assist.

6. Iowa State (+1)

Iowa State won its third game in a row by beating Cincinnati 81-70 at home. The Cyclones also moved up a spot in the BPI Sunday.

Curtis Jones actually came off the bench and put up 22 points, six rebounds and three assists in the win. Joshua Jefferson added 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

7. Arizona (-2)

Arizona’s loss to Houston dropped the Wildcats two spots in Sunday’s BPI ratings. A tough look at home for them as it was their second straight loss.

Caleb Love put up 17 points, four rebounds and seven assists but was the only starter in double figures. KJ Lewis came off the bench and put up 13 points, six rebounds and two assists.

8. Florida (+1)

Florida won its fourth game in a row and took out another SEC foe. This time, South Carolina was the victim and the Gators moved up a spot in the BPI.

Denzel Aberdeen had 22 points, two rebounds and three assists in the win. Thomas Haugh had 20 points, six rebounds and three assists.

9. Texas Tech (+2)

The Red Raiders moved up into the top 10 of the BPI, changing things up this Sunday. Texas Tech absolutely dominated Oklahoma State, 93-55, to improve to 20-5 on the season.

JT Toppin had himself a night and put up 32 points, 12 rebounds and two assists. Christian Anderson added 16 points, four rebounds and two assists off the bench.

10. Kansas (-2)

Kansas stayed in the top 10 of the BPI but fell two spots after being upset by Utah on the road. The Utes handled the Jayhawks in the second half and won 74-67.

Dajuan Harris had 14 points, four rebounds and four assists. Hunter Dickinson led in scoring with 15 points and added six rebounds and three assists.
