College Basketball Rankings: Predicting the AP Poll Top 25 after another week filled with upsets
Chaos all across college basketball continued for another week, with upsets again dominating the conversation as the top teams struggle to string results together.
Despite just two losses inside the Top 10, the rest of the Top 25 teams ended the week with double-digit losses again. This includes multiple teams with multiple losses over the past seven days.
As the dust settles and a new hierarchy again emerges in college basketball, here is a predictive look at what the 2024-25 AP Poll Top 25 could look like on Monday.
Predicted AP Poll Top 25
1. Auburn (Last Week: 1)
Auburn survived one of the best games of the weekend against Tennessee, which also served as Johni Broome’s return after an absence which the Tigers held down with an undefeated record.
2. Duke (Last Week: 2)
Duke played just one game over the past week, taking down Wake Forest to remain on top of the ACC and extend the nation’s longest winning streak.
3. Iowa State (Last Week: 3)
After falling last week, Iowa State bounced back with two Big 12 wins which reasserted them in the conversation among the best teams in college basketball.
4. Alabama (Last Week: 4)
Alabama won both games over the past week, including wins against Vanderbilt and LSU. The Crimson Tide holds steady along with the rest of college basketball’s top teams.
5. Florida (Last Week: 5)
Florida joined the rest of last week’s Top Five teams with an undefeated week, surviving against South Carolina before blowing out Georgia.
6. Houston (Last Week: 7)
Houston won a 2OT thriller against Kansas on the road to finished the weekend 2-0. The Cougars m7aintained their spot on top of the Big 12 rankings and further built their resume to move up boards.

7. Michigan State (Last Week: 8)
Michigan State extended their win steak against Rutgers, surviving their only matchup of the week to keep climbing the board in the latest Top 25 update.
8. Tennessee (Last Week: 6)
Tennessee won in the mid-week slate against Mississippi State but dropped a tight game against Auburn to fall slightly in the updated Top 25. If not for Michigan State’s week, the Volunteers potentially could have withstood the loss without a fall.
9. Marquette (Last Week: 10)
Marquette makes a move back up the board with two wins against Big East competition over the past seven days, allowing them to benefit from the Top 25 upsets.
10. Kentucky (Last Week: 9)
In their only matchup of the week, Kentucky suffered a loss against Vanderbilt. While the loss puts a knock on their resume the losses of others around the Wildcats allow them to remain in the Top 10.
