On Sunday, CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish updated his college basketball Top 25 And 1 Rankings. He had plenty to consider after a wild week of upsets and exhilarating conference play.

As usual, the SEC still reigned supreme in Parrish’s rankings, racking up 10 total teams in the Top 25 And 1. No other conference came close, with the Big Ten placing the second-most teams with six.

With so many spectacular teams and jaw-dropping outcomes to cover, let’s dive into Parrish’s latest rankings.

1. Auburn Tigers

Previous Ranking: 1
On Saturday, National Player of the Year frontrunner Johni Broome made his return after missing two weeks due to a severe ankle sprain. Broome didn’t disappoint, recording team-highs of 16 points and 13 rebounds to boost Auburn to a 53-51 win over Tennessee.

With the win, Auburn improved to 6-0 in conference play and holds sole possession of first place in the SEC standings. Auburn forward Chaney Johnson scored 10 points against the Volunteers and was the only Tiger besides Broome to score double-figures.

2. Duke Blue Devils

Previous Ranking: 2
Duke downed Wake Forest 63-56 on Saturday to extend its win streak to 13 games. As usual, freshman Cooper Flagg was sensational for the Blue Devils, tallying 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists against the Demon Deacons.

However, Flagg wasn’t perfect in the win. He committed a team-high seven turnovers. He wasn’t the only Duke player who struggled to take care of the ball. The team finished with 16 turnovers. The Blue Devils will have to work on their ball security as they continue their dominant run through the ACC.

3. Iowa State Cyclones

Previous Ranking: 3
After suffering a surprising loss to West Virginia last week, Iowa State bounced back with two victories in five days. Most recently, the Cyclones ran away with a 76-61 triumph over Arizona State on Saturday.

Iowa State’s Curtis Jones stole the show, notching a game-high 33 points in the win while shooting 5-10 from 3-point range. Of course, he didn’t win the game by himself. The Cyclones turned up the heat down the stretch and finished the game on a 19-3 run.

4. Alabama Crimson Tide

Previous Ranking: 4
Alabama retained its No. 4 ranking in Parrish’s Top 25 And 1 this week after defeating LSU 80-73 on Saturday. In the win, sophomore guard Aden Holloway continued to show off his improvement, posting a team-high 19 points.

Meanwhile, All-American guard Mark Sears didn’t look like his usual self in the game, failing to score in 17 minutes of play. After Sears’ lackluster performance in the first half, Alabama head coach Nate Oats benched him in the second half.

5. Florida Gators

Previous Ranking: 5
If there were any doubts about Florida’s ability, they evaporated this weekend after the Gators handed Georgia an 89-59 shellacking. Florida’s defense was suffocating, only allowing one player on the Bulldogs to score double digits.

In contrast, five players racked up 13 or more points for Florida. The Gators shot 53.1% from the field in the win and recorded 19 assists on their 35 made field goals. In the victory, Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr. extended his school-record streak of consecutive games with a 3-pointer to 43.

6. Tennessee Volunteers

Previous Ranking: 6
After securing a win over Mississippi State on Tuesday, Tennessee wasn’t able to cap off its week with a victory against Auburn on Saturday. The Volunteers fell 53-51 after Auburn’s Miles Kelly hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 30 seconds remaining in the game.

Tennessee couldn’t find a rhythm against the Tigers. The Volunteers connected on just 17-of-their-54 (31.5) field-goal attempts against Auburn and shot an even worse 18.2% from downtown. Tennesee must find a way to rally, as it prepares to square off against Kentucky on Tuesday.

7. Marquette Golden Eagles

Previous Ranking: 8
Marquette didn’t allow its upset loss against Xavier last week to discourage it. Instead, the Golden Eagles soared past their competition this week, racking up wins over Seton Hall and Villanova.

In their victory over Villanova, the Golden Eagles stepped up on defense, recording 16 points off of turnovers. Marquette guard Stevie Mitchell particularly benefitted, amassing a career-high 21 points against the Wildcats.

8. Michigan State Spartans

Previous Ranking: 9
Michigan State knows how to win, and it does it well. On Saturday, the Spartans picked up their 12th win in a row with an 81-74 triumph over Rutgers inside Madison Square Garden.

The Spartans showed off their depth against the Scarlet Knights, tallying 50 bench points. Nobody outplayed Jase Richardson, who notched a career-high 20 points on 6-9 shooting. Coen Carr was also excellent for the Spartans, piling on 14 points with perfect shooting in the victory.

9. Purdue Boilermakers

Previous Ranking: 12
Following a stunning loss against Ohio State on Tuesday, Purdue silenced its doubters with a 91-64 beatdown on Michigan on Saturday. Braden Smith nearly recorded a triple-double in the win, recording 24 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds.

He was far from the only standout for the Boilermakers. Trey Kaufman-Renn and Fletcher Loyer also combined for 33 points in the victory while shooting an efficient 13-25 from the field and committing just three turnovers.

10. Houston Cougars

Previous Ranking: 14
Houston took one of the largest leaps in Parrish’s rankings this week, rising four spots. The Cougars’ ascension didn’t happen by accident. After mopping the floor with Utah on Wednesday, the Cougars marched into Allen Fieldhouse and defeated Kansas 92-86 in double-overtime on Saturday.

In the win, the Cougars never relented, even trailing the Jayhawks by six points with 18 seconds left in the first overtime. J’Wan Roberts led Houston to victory, stuffing the stat sheet with 24 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
