After an exhilarating night of action on Thursday, Gary Parrish of CBS Sports has provided another update to his top 25 & 1 rankings to reflect the results that came to light.

There were only three ranked matchups, and each team took it on the chin on Thursday. Memphis fell to Temple by seven, Michigan lost to Minnesota by three in overtime, and Gonzaga suffered a similar fate, as they couldn’t overcome Oregon State, even with the added time allotted to them.

With that in mind, here’s what Parrish landed on for his updated Top 25 and 1, per his piece at CBS Sports on Friday afternoon. Check out his rankings below.

1. Auburn Tigers

Auburn remained at No. 1 for CBS following what might’ve been its most impressive outing of the season on Tuesday. Without Johni Broome, arguably the best player in the country so far this year, due to an ankle sprain, the Tigers blew out No. 15 Mississippi State by 22 in The Jungle.

While Broome could be out some more moving forward, Auburn looked just fine and could further justify itself with two more ranked matchups up next with them at No. 23 Georgia on Saturday.

2. Iowa State Cyclones

Iowa State also stayed at No. 2 with its 74-57 win over No. 9 Kansas to extend the sport’s longest winning streak to a dozen. Curtis Jones led the Cyclones with a third-straight outing of 20-plus points as he shot a season-best from three with five makes on six attempts while Dishon Jackson (17 points) and Joshua Jefferson (10 points, 12 rebounds) gave them big games down low.

Now, tied for first in the conference while having the best overall record in the Big 12, Iowa State could keep adding wins with them playing West Virginia in Morgantown next.

3. Duke Blue Devils

Duke didn’t move from its slot at No. 3 following their 35-point win over Miami on Tuesday, which continued the second-longest win streak in the country at 11. The Blue Devils’ freshmen led them again with a career-best game from Kon Knueppel (25 points, 6-8 3PT), along with the outings of Khaman Maluach (12 points (85.7% FG), 15 rebounds) and Cooper Flagg (13 points, seven rebounds, six assists) against the Hurricanes.

The Blue Devils also have a good runway in the ACC, as they are playing two road games starting this weekend at Boston College.

4. Marquette Golden Eagles

Marquette didn’t move after surviving by two in overtime at DePaul on Tuesday. The Blue Demons came back twice in the first half and in overtime but, in the end, the Golden Eagles overcame no bench points and won behind four double-figure-scoring starters, specifically David Joplin (30 points, 7-13 3PT).

Marquette will now be back home this weekend with a matchup against Xavier on Saturday.

5. Tennessee Volunteers

Tennessee stayed at No. 5 following a 74-56 win over the Bulldogs in Knoxville on Wednesday. It was a slow first half for both, with UGA having a slight lead at halftime, but the second half was all for the Vols at 49-30. Jordan Gainey scored a game-high of 19 off the bench for the Vols, while Zakai Zeigler put up 16 points, seven assists, and set a season-high in steals with six while tying his season-best in triples with four.

The Volunteers will now play their in-state rivalry game next with them playing Vanderbilt this weekend in Music City.

6. Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky kept its place at No. 6 after winning 81-69 over No. 11 Texas A&M on Tuesday. The Wildcats remained undefeated in ranked games this season behind a second-straight big outing from Jaxson Robinson (22 points, eight rebounds, five threes).

Now, UK will look to keep that streak alive with a top 10 matchup this weekend against No. 4 Alabama up next in Rupp Arena.

7. Florida Gators

Florida fell to No. 7 earlier this week for CBS, following an 83-82 loss at home to Missouri. The Gators closed that final margin but it wasn’t enough after Mizzou still led by as many as 19 in the win.

At 2-2 in conference the past two weeks after being undefeated the first two months, Florida will look to regroup again with Texas coming to Gainesville on Saturday.

8. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama slipped as well on Wednesday at CBS, as the other top five home upset in the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide turned the ball over 21 times and made just five threes as No. 21 Ole Miss left Tuscaloosa with a 74-64 victory.

It’s now a turnaround for the Tide too as they’ll play a third-straight ranked matchup this weekend in the bluegrass in playing No. 6 Kentucky.

9. Michigan State Spartans

Michigan State stayed at No. 9 after extending its winning streak, the third-longest currently in the country, to 10 last night with a 90-85 victory over Penn State. The Spartans stayed ahead for the duration, despite getting outshot at home, behind a season-best game from Frankie Fidler (18 points, seven rebounds, four steals) as well as another showing from Jaden Akins (16 points).

They’ll now have their toughest matchup in a month and a half since Maui, though, with No. 19 Illinois coming to East Lansing.

10. Oregon Ducks

Oregon is firmly within the top ten now, as they slid in following the Jayhawks’ loss. That’s with the Ducks having survived three straight one-possession games in conference play, including a one-point win at Penn State on Sunday.

After taking the weekdays off, the Ducks will be back in Eugene on Saturday where they’ll host No. 17 Purdue in a top 20 matchup in the Big Ten.
