Wednesday brought the latest edition of the CBS Sports Top 25 and 1. A pair of upsets in the sports caused the rankings to be updated before another loaded slate unfolds.

The two games in question both saw a lower-ranked home team take down somebody at home. Tennessee lost to Kentucky in front of Big Blue Nation, while Michigan was able to secure a massive Big Ten win against Purdue in Ann Arbor.

As a result, there is movement throughout the entire 26-team list. You can check out the latest top 25 and 1 from CBS’ Gary Parish below.

1. Auburn Tigers

Even with a loss over the weekend, Auburn remained as the No. 1 team. The same is true of the CBS Sports Top 25 and 1, with Tuesday’s win against Vanderbilt getting the Tigers back on the right track.

Now, attention shifts to Saturday in Tuscaloosa. It’s going to be a historic one from Coleman Coliseum and Auburn is hoping to send the home crowd home disappointed.

2. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama had a test of its own before getting to the in-state rivalry matchup. Nate Oats‘ squad passed with flying colors, going on the road and blowing out Texas.

Now, it’s No. 1 vs. No. 2 for the most important Alabama-Auburn matchup in the rivalry’s history. First place in the SEC will be at stake too as both teams push for a regular season championship.

3. Florida Gators (+2)

Florida made its statement on Saturday, taking down No. 1 Auburn on the road. Another game away from home vs. Mississippi State could have been a hangover but instead, they won by 13 points in the Hump.

Injuries are something to watch for Florida moving forward. Alijah Martin has missed two straight while Alex Condon suffered an ankle injury on Tuesday.

4. Duke Blue Devils

Duke is still waiting for an opportunity to rebound from its first ACC loss of the season. Wednesday night presents itself against Cal, hoping to get back on the right track.

Even with the loss, the Blue Devils are still viewed as one of the best teams in college basketball. Duke’s full body of work is as impressive as anybody out there.

5. Houston Cougars (+1)

Houston was a small benefactor of the upset, moving up a spot. All without playing a game on Tuesday, getting their mid-week win on Monday against Baylor.

Many wondered how Houston would adapt to life in the Big 12. For the second straight season, the Cougars are silencing any kind of doubters but now, the goal is to find success in the NCAA Tournament.

6. St. John’s Red Storm (+2)

Rick Pitino has taken the Big East over with a two-game lead in conference play. It’s a program looking to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019 under Chris Mullen.

Wins are expected to continue to stack up, beginning Wednesday night against Villanova. Sunday is one to circle as St. John’s heads West to face off against Creighton.

7. Tennessee Volunteers (-4)

One of the upsets from Tuesday, Tennessee could not escape Rupp Arena without a loss. It’s the second loss to Kentucky on the season for the Vols, getting swept by their rivals.

Tennessee is now 3-3 in their last six but the schedule has been quite difficult. Still have them inside the top 10 of the CBS Sports Top 25 and 1 gives confidence in what can be accomplished moving forward.

8. Texas A&M Aggies (+2)

With so much talent in the SEC, Texas A&M has been a team flying under the radar. The Aggies have won four straight and six out of the last seven.

A slow start against Georgia on Tuesday may have had Texas A&M on upset watch. Instead, a massive second half sees them keep afloat near the top of the SEC standings.

9. Iowa State Cyclones

A three-game skid has quickly been evaporated in Ames. Iowa State is back to winning ways to bring some stability back to what has been a great season.

More tests are certainly on the way but for now, Iowa State still projects as a top 10 team in the CBS Sports top 25 and 1.

10. Purdue Boilermakers (-3)

Purdue is the second of two upsets to occur, causing the Top 25 and 1’s shift. A tough loss in Ann Arbor against Michigan, this is just Purdue’s third blemish in Big Ten play.

Even so, the Boilermakers are still inside the top 10. The next two games are not particularly easy though, facing ranked foes in important conference matchups.
