College basketball has officially hit the heart of conference play and that means CBS Sports frequent Top 25 and 1 updates have had a little more movement of late.

The publication has consistently ranked the top teams in college basketball, providing an excellent look at the ever-shifting field when it comes to the top two dozen teams or so. It’s a good gauge on the low seeding in this year’s NCAA Tournament.

So without further ado let’s take a closer peek at the latest CBS Sports Top 25 and 1.

1. Auburn Tigers

Auburn’s win streak is now out to 12 games, following recent wins over Tennessee at home and LSU on the road. After surviving two one-possession games in a row, the Tigers gave themselves a little more breathing room in an 87-74 win against the other set of Tigers.

Star Johni Broome is back after missing some brief action with an injury and all he’s done is go back-to-back double-double. The latest? A 26-point, 16-rebound outing in the win over LSU. Auburn is as good as it gets.

2. Duke Blue Devils

The Blue Devils have gone behind in each of their last two games, first on the road at Wake Forest and then home against NC State. Both times Cooper Flagg and company have been able to pull out of the skid in time to secure a comfortable enough win.

Duke’s winning streak now stretches to 14 games, the longest active streak in the country. That also includes a win over Auburn. The Tigers have a compelling case for the top spot… but the Blue Devils aren’t far behind.

3. Alabama Crimson Tide

Nate Oats has his squad on a nice little run right now, with two top 15 wins in the last four games. The team hasn’t lost since it tripped up against a ranked Ole Miss team. Otherwise, it’s won 12 of the last 13.

There’s been a little drama surrounding the benching of Mark Sears in a win over LSU, but the Crimson Tide seem to be rounding the corner on that no worse for the wear. That’s the sign of a veteran team, one worthy of a lofty ranking in the CBS Sports Top 25 and 1.

4. Florida Gators

Florida nearly got caught napping in a road game at South Carolina, forced to pull out a last-second winner after trailing virtually the entire game. But the team did survive. The tricky part comes now, though.

The last five games were against unranked teams, a peculiarity in this year’s SEC. The next four games are all against ranked teams, with three of those four contests on the road. First up, a road trip to Tennessee.

5. Iowa State Cyclones

No. 3 Iowa State seemed to have things all but wrapped up against Arizona, then Caleb Love made a halfcourt shot to send the game to overtime. From there, Arizona simply blitzed Iowa State and won 86-75.

It was a huge upset, the second in four games for the Cyclones. A get-back game against Kansas State is up next, then it’s a road rematch with a ranked Kansas team. Iowa State won the first meeting with the Jayhawks 74-57. The Cyclones are sliding in the CBS Sports Top 25 and 1 and need to find some stability.

6. Marquette Golden Eagles

Shaka Smart‘s squad has won nine of its last 10, with the lone loss a one-possession affair to Xavier. This week a road win at Butler was pretty easily obtained, with the margin ending at 78-69.

The upcoming slate will put the Golden Eagles to the test, though. First up is a game against No. 25 UConn, then a game against red-hot No. 15 St. John’s follows. No pressure.

7. Michigan State Spartans

Only one game behind Duke for the longest winning streak in the country, Michigan State has reeled off 13 straight wins. There have been a mix of some competitive games and some blowouts in that span.

Guard Jaden Akins continues to lead the way for the Spartans and, surprisingly, he’s the team’s only double-figure scorer right now. He’s averaging 13.6 points per game, but Michigan State has a very deep bench rolling about 10 deep.

8. Kentucky Wildcats

Playing without Lamont Butler and mostly without Andrew Carr, Kentucky still managed to put together a thrilling road win over Tennessee on Tuesday night. The Wildcats won 78-73, snapping a two-game losing skid.

Getting those two healthy will be paramount in the near future; it’s hard to see Kentucky achieving everything it’s capable of without them. Still, there’s time. Up next is a home date with former coach John Calipari in what should be a fascinating environment at Rupp Arena.

9. Houston Cougars (+1)

Houston is coming off a huge week, having knocked off Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. That result alone was enough to send the Cougars soaring up the CBS Sports Top 25 and 1.

A ranked home contest against Texas Tech is up next for Houston, which features 10 players playing at least 10 minutes per game. It’s a deep and talented lineup, one still led by LJ Cryer (13.7 PPG).

10. Purdue Boilermakers (-1)

Purdue let one slip against Ohio State after beating a ranked Oregon team on the road, but it followed that up with another ranked win, this time against Michigan. That’s how you prevent negative momentum from building.

Matt Painer‘s squad has been quite good this season and remains in contention at the top of the Big Ten race along with unbeaten Michigan State. Trey Kaufman-Renn has done a nice job filling the scoring and rebounding void left by Zach Edey‘s departure.
