Week 4 of the college football season was packed with action and impressive performances by several of the top teams in the country. Wins that definitely change how the college football landscape views some teams as the halfway point of the regular season nears.

From wins against ranked opponents on the road to taking care of business in dominant fashion against lesser opponents, several teams proved they’re worthy of being crowned as a Top 10 team in the country. A list that college football analyst Joel Klatt updated following this weekend’s action.

Klatt made various changes to his Top 10 list from last week, kicking some teams out following losses and reshuffling the order after some impressive performances. Check out his updated Top 10 teams in the country rankings below.

1. Texas

For the second straight week, the Texas Longhorns rank atop Klatt’s rankings and the AP Top 25 Poll. Continuing to thrive despite starting quarterback Quinn Ewers being hurt as Arch Manning led Texas to a 51-3 win over Louisiana-Monroe behind 258 yards and two touchdowns.

“My number one team is Texas, doesn’t matter who’s playing quarterback. That team is elite, they’ve got a great coach, a great plan, an elite offensive line, and right now the Longhorns are my number one team,” Klatt said.

2. Ohio State

The Buckeyes took care of business once again on Saturday in a 49-14 win over Marshall that represents their third straight Group of Five opponent as they now head into conference play. Outscoring teams 157-20 so far this season with one of the most talented rosters in the country despite being untested.

“That run game is gonna be a problem for anybody in the country,” Klatt said. “Quinshon Judkins, and TreVeyon Henderson, and Chip Kelly calling the plays. Watch out.”

3. Miami

The Hurricanes remained undefeated following an impressive 50-15 performance against South Florida on the road. Continuing to ride the momentum of their dominant Week 1 win in The Swamp against Florida and climbing up after being ranked No. 5 by Klatt last week.

New quarterback Cam Ward has been the tip of the spear for Miami’s strong start to the season. With Klatt noting that he’s been playing with some ‘serious swag’ after posting 404 yards and three touchdowns against the Bulls.

4. Tennessee

One of the most impressive wins of the season came in Norman this weekend when Tennessee defeated Oklahoma 25-15. Where the Vols played yet another excellent game on the defensive side of the ball and maintained control of the game offensively for four quarters in Memorial Stadium against the SEC newcomers.

“Tennessee, very impressive against Oklahoma. Love their defense, love Nico [Iamaleava], love everything about Tennessee. I think that is a national championship-caliber team, the Volunteers,” Klatt said.

5. Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs did not play this weekend thanks to a bye week, but they continue to fall in the rankings following their close 13-12 win against Kentucky to start SEC play. As the preseason No. 1 team in the country now drops to No. 5 in Klatt’s rankings but sits at No. 2 in the most recent AP Poll.

“I get a lot of flack for putting Georgia at five,” Klatt said. “But everybody else in that top four has shown a higher level to date than Georgia. In particular after what they did at Kentucky in that narrow win against the Wildcats.”

6. Alabama

Like Georgia, Alabama also didn’t play this weekend due to a bye week. Getting some rest following their first road trip of the season after making easy work of Wisconsin in a 42-10 victory over the Badgers in Madison.

New head coach Kalen DeBoer has hit the ground running in his first season with the Crimson Tide. But they’ll face their tallest task of the season this weekend when they host Georgia in one of the biggest games of the entire college football season.

7. Ole Miss

Ole Miss is another program that falls into the category of untested team with an impressive roster. Defeating Georgia Southern 52-13 this Saturday in their third 50+ point performance of the season as they head into their first SEC game of the season this weekend against Kentucky.

Jackson Dart is really good,” Klatt said. “They don’t have a very good schedule, but this is a team that I believe in.”

8. Penn State

The Nittany Lions looked like a well-oiled machine this weekend following a 56-0 win over Kent State at home. Looking elite on defense yet again and pitching their first shutout of the season after holding opponents scoreless in three games last year.

Defense wins championships, but Penn State’s new offense under Andy Kotelnicki is starting to catch a rhythm. Doing so at the right time with Penn State hosting No. 19 Illinois this weekend following an impressive overtime win over Nebraska on the road.

9. Oregon

Oregon entered the season as a national championship contender but lost some of its notoriety following two narrow wins to start the season. Squeaking out victories against Idaho and Boise State before getting back on track in Week 3 with a dominant 49-14 win at Oregon State.

The Ducks still occupy a spot in Klatt and the AP’s Top 10 coming off of their bye week. As they’ll look to keep climbing up the ranks throughout Big Ten play starting with a game against at UCLA on Saturday.

10. Utah

Utah rounds out Klatt’s Top 10 following an impressive road win against a ranked Oklahoma State team in Stillwater. Doing so without starting quarterback Cameron Rising and notching their first signature win as members of the Big 12 Conference.

“Doesn’t matter if they’ve got their backup quarterback in, Isaac Wilson rolls in. What do they do?” Klatt asked. “Get a big win on the road at Oklahoma State, so the Utes jump back in at number 10.”
