Joel Klatt unveils top 10 following chaotic Week 10 in college football
Saturday provided plenty of drama in the college football world. There were a few narrow wins for some top teams, plus a major upset in Michigan State losing to Purdue.
After the chaotic Week 10 slate, Fox’s lead college football analyst Joel Klatt revealed his top 10 rankings after the weekend via Twitter. Check it out below.
Klatt’s top ten following Week 9
- Georgia
- Oklahoma
- Oregon
- Ohio State
- Alabama
- Cincinnati
- Notre Dame
- Michigan State
- Michigan
- Oklahoma State
In a reply tweet, Klatt said “after Georgia it is impossible to rank these teams.”
Only two teams feature from the SEC are Georgia and Alabama. The Bulldogs took care of business Saturday afternoon against Missouri, while the Crimson Tide just squeaked by LSU. All season, it has seemed as if Nick Saban and Kirby Smart were destined to once again face off in Atlanta in the SEC Championship game.
Everybody’s favorite point of argument, Cincinnati, gets put at No. 6 by Klatt. Like Alabama, they barely got by an inferior team in Tulsa. Fumbling in the end zone, the Golden Hurricane would have had the chance to send the game to overtime. Instead, Luke Fickell’s squad stays one of four undefeated teams in the FBS.
A few head-to-head results seem to have influenced Klatt’s rankings, as well. Oregon, Cincinnati, and Michigan State are all ranked one spot ahead of teams they beat in Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Michigan respectively.

Oklahoma State sneaks into the top 10 after beating West Virginia by three touchdowns on the road. Barring a collapse against TCU or Texas Tech, the Cowboys should have two straight games against Oklahoma to determine who wins the Big 12.
Klatt named three teams just on the outside of his top 10. One was Texas A&M who now has back-to-back top 15 wins against Auburn and Ole Miss. The Aggies have a path to the SEC Championship if Alabama drops another conference game.
Group of Five schools BYU and UTSA were the other two. The Cougars beat FCS level Idaho State this week but overall, they have beaten five Power Five teams — all from the Pac-12.
For the Roadrunners, Jeff Traylor as them 9-0 for the first time in program history. UTEP was the latest to run into the buzzsaw, with UTSA getting a 44-23 win in El Paso.
