Year 1 of the new-look SEC has come to a close. However, as teams grow comfortable in the new era, college football fans should only expect the prestigious conference to become more competitive.
While Oklahoma struggled in its first year in the SEC, Texas thrived. The Longhorns’ only loss of the regular season was against Georgia. However, Texas was unable to exact revenge against UGA when the two teams met again in the SEC Championship, with Georgia emerging victorious in overtime.
Although Georgia and Texas will undoubtedly be two of the favorites to win the SEC again in the 2025 campaign, other programs will look to steal the crown. Let’s examine which team FanDuel SportsBook expects to win the SEC next season.
1. Texas Longhorns (+210)
Texas is the favorite to win the SEC Championship in 2025 and it’s difficult to blame oddsmakers. The Longhorns went the farthest of any SEC team in the College Football Playoff, ultimately falling to Ohio State in the National Championship.
With quarterback Quinn Ewers moving onto the NFL this offseason, Texas is handing Arch Manning the keys next season. Expectations are through the roof for the former five-star prospect, who racked up 939 passing yards and nine touchdowns compared to just two interceptions this past season.
2. Georgia Bulldogs (+390)

Texas isn’t the only team that will have a fresh face behind center next season. After the season concluded, QB Carson Beck sent shockwaves through the college football landscape when he transferred to Miami.
With Beck gone, Gunner Stockton is the favorite to be Georgia’s QB1 next season. Whoever leads UGA’s offense, they’ll have no shortage of weapons at their disposal. Georgia added standout wide receivers Zachariah Branch and Noah Thomas via the NCAA Transfer Portal in January.
3. Alabama Crimson Tide (+700)
Kalen DeBoer‘s debut campaign at the helm of Alabama didn’t go according to plan but the Crimson Tide look like they could be dangerous next season. On Thursday, Alabama officially announced the hiring of offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb.
Grubb was DeBoer’s OC during his two years at Washington and has also served under DeBoer at Fresno State and Sioux Falls. The pair were nearly inseparable until last season when Grubb accepted an offer to call plays for the Seattle Seahawks. With his right-hand man back at his side, DeBoer will look to turn heads in 2025.
3. Tennessee Volunteers (+700)
Tennessee is tied with Alabama for the third-best odds to win the SEC next season. The Volunteers don’t have nearly as many question marks on offense heading into next season as many of the teams in the SEC. However, they’ll have some serious holes on defense to fill this offseason.
Tennessee will especially need its defensive line to step up next season with the team’s leading pass-rusher in 2024, James Pearce, off to the NFL. Additionally, the Volunteers must strengthen their secondary, with players like Will Brooks graduating.
5. LSU Tigers (+1000)

After a three-game skid late in the 2024 season, LSU missed the CFP for the third straight season under head coach Brian Kelly. Evidently, the shortcoming has lit a fire under the 63-year-old head coach this offseason.

LSU boasts the No. 4 transfer class in the country, according to On3’s 2025 Team Transfer Portal Rankings. With standouts like Kentucky’s Barion Brown and Oklahoma’s Nic Anderson joining the Tigers, QB Garrett Nussmeier will have no shortage of talented receivers to throw to next season.
5. Ole Miss Rebels (+1000)
For the first time in three seasons, QB Jaxson Dart won’t be running the offense next season but that doesn’t mean the Rebels can’t find success. Nonetheless, it won’t be easy. Ole Miss is only expected to return two full-time starters on offense next season: tackle Diego Pounds and receiver Cayden Lee.
Ole Miss’ defense isn’t any better off. The only returning defensive starters are defensive end Suntarine Perkins and linebacker TJ Dottery. Ole Miss currently has the second-best transfer class in the country but the players will still have to mesh for Ole Miss to compete for an SEC championship trophy in the fall.
7. Texas A&M Aggies (+1600)
Texas A&M outperformed expectations in its first season under head coach Mike Elko. The Aggies finished the regular season with an 8-4 record and a 5-3 mark in conference play. With his feet under him now, Elko will look to take a massive leap forward next season.
Evidently, oddsmakers aren’t convinced he’ll find success. Texas A&M is expected to return seven starters from last season but five of them are offensive linemen. The Aggies’ success next season will likely come down to how well their skill players perform.
8. South Carolina Gamecocks (+1800)

South Carolina finished 9-4 last season, its best record yet under head coach Shane Beamer. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers was a massive proponent behind the Gamecocks’ success.
The redshirt freshman did it all for South Carolina, racking up 2,534 passing yards, 674 rushing yards and 25 total touchdowns. The Gamecocks reworked NIL deals with Sellers and several other standouts after the season to secure their future with the program. South Carolina will be a team to watch in 2025.
