A practice squabble between a junior college football player and his teammate turned into a violent shooting that left one dead at a Miami Gardens hotel on Tuesday, per a report from the Miami Herald. Jeremiah Harris, a 19-year-old football player at ASA College, reportedly shot three people after an argument at practice.

Harris went to his coach after the shootings and was turned in to police. He’s now in custody of Miami-Dade Corrections, charged with one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Classes were suspended for Tuesday and Wednesday at ASA College after the incident and resumed Thursday. The deceased victim was not identified by either the university nor in the police report.

Harris and the teammate who died were seen arguing at Tuesday morning’s practice. When the two returned to the hotel, witnesses allegedly heard Harris tell his teammate, “I have 13 shots in my fanny pack.”

The teammate went to Harris’ hotel room hoping to settle the beef, but was met with gunfire. Hotel surveillance video shows Harris opening the door to his room around noon, after which more arguing occurred. Harris then fired into the hallway where one man dropped instantly, another ran into the room and a third fled.

Cameras then showed Harris running out of the room, going down the stairs and stashing the weapon in a restroom.

Neither of the other two victims — one of whom was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, the other to Aventura Hospital — were not identified by name or as a college football player in the arrest report.
