Through two weeks of the 2024 season, there were plenty of big performances across college football. One of the most notable was at Boise State, and Ashton Jeanty is one of the headliners in the On3 Impact Top 10 after Week 2.

Jeanty led the charge against Oregon with another huge showing after Boise State kicked off his Heisman Trophy campaign. He helped the Broncos keep pace with the Ducks before a last-second field goal helped Oregon fight off the upset.

Will Johnson was another key player in Week 2. He entered the season as one of the top cornerbacks in the game, and he helped keep Texas star Isaiah Bond to three catches for 51 yards. That allowed him to come in behind Jeanty in the updated On3 Impact Top 10.

Johnson had a huge season opener against Fresno State, as well. His biggest play came on an 86-yard pick-six to help Michigan come away with the Week 1 win to as the Wolverines look to defend their national title.

Week 3 is coming quickly, meaning there are sure to be more players vying for spots in the On3 Impact Top 10. Here’s where the rankings stand after Week 2.

1. Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

Through two weeks, Ashton Jeanty cemented himself as the nation’s leading rusher. His 229.5 yards per game ranks first in the nation entering Week 3, and he doesn’t show many signs of slowing down.

Jeanty totaled 192 yards and three touchdowns in last week’s win over Oregon, which came after a breakout showing in the opener against Georgia Southern. He totaled 267 yards and six touchdowns in Week 1, and those two performances helped him earn the top spot in the On3 Impact Top 10.

2. Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

One of the top defenders in the nation this year, Will Johnson was a bright spot for Michigan in Week 2. Assigned to cover Isaiah Bond, he rose to the occasion in a big way, keeping the Alabama transfer out of the end zone.

Johnson entered the season as one of the top players in college football and looks poised to defend that status. He’ll remain a key part of the Michigan defense as the Wolverines look to bounce back from the loss to Texas at home.

3. Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado

In addition to his talents on defense, Travis Hunter is one of the top receivers in the country through two weeks. He was once again Shedeur Sanders’ top target against Nebraska and recorded yet another 100-yard game.

Hunter hauled in 10 receptions for 110 yards in the loss to the Cornhuskers while also adding three tackles on defense as he played most of the snaps once again. His durability and playmaking landed him the No. 3 spot in the On3 Impact Top 10 heading into this week’s matchup against Colorado State.

4. Kelvin Banks, OL, Texas

The Texas offensive line was one of the deciding factors in last week’s victory over Michigan, and Kelvin Banks led the charge. The Longhorns didn’t allow a sack and, therefore, allowed the offense to hit its stride en route to the 31-12 victory.

Texas returned its entire offensive line from last year’s College Football Playoff appearance, and it’s shown through two games. Banks is an important part of the operation, which is why he earned preseason All-SEC honors after an All-American season in 2023.

5. Malaki Starks, S, Georgia

After Georgia’s season-opening victory over Clemson, Malaki Starks drew some high praise from his head coach. Kirby Smart likened him to the great Champ Bailey – further illustrating how much he means to the defense.

Starks followed up his impressive Week 1 with a tackle in the blowout win over Tennessee Tech. He’s the centerpiece of the UGA defense and checks in at No. 5 in the On3 Impact Top 10 rankings.

6. Carson Beck, QB, Georgia

The top quarterback in the country, according to the On3 Impact Top 10, Carson Beck hasn’t missed a beat to start the 2024 season. He threw for five touchdowns in Week 2, building plenty of momentum heading into a primetime matchup against Kentucky.

Beck is also generating some Heisman Trophy buzz as he goes through his senior season. He’s also making an early impression on NFL scouts and could be the top quarterback off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft.

7. Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss

Two weeks into the 2024 season, Jaxson Dart leads the nation in passing. The focal point of the Ole Miss offense, he’s living up to some high expectations in Oxford after some major moves in the transfer portal.

Dart has completed 87.1% of his passes through two weeks, including a 25-for-27 showing against Middle Tennessee State. He also has six passing touchdowns as Ole Miss gets ready for a trip to Wake Forest Saturday night.

8. Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas

Another top quarterback performer from Week 2, Quinn Ewers continues to make a case for the Heisman Trophy. He threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns against Michigan to further impress in his third season at Texas.

Ewers came in as the No. 3-ranked quarterback in the On3 Impact Rankings and No. 8 in the On3 Impact Top 10 as Texas gets ready to begin its first SEC schedule. The Longhorns have another non-conference tune-up this week against UTSA, which could be another big game for Ewers.

9. Cam Ward, QB, Miami

The crown jewel in the transfer portal, Cam Ward has lived up to the hype in a big way at Miami. He shined against Florida and put up even more impressive numbers against Florida A&M in Week 2.

Ward was efficient, completing 20 of 26 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns as Miami cruised to victory. It was quite the home debut at Hard Rock Stadium, and he’ll look to continue his strong start this week against Ball State.

10. Will Campbell, OL, LSU

LSU’s offensive line is drawing plenty of attention this year as the Tigers turn to Garrett Nussmeier at quarterback. Will Campbell is a key piece of the unit, and he rounds out the On3 Impact Top 10 rankings.

Campbell is one of the anchors on the offensive line, along with Emery Jones. He’s one of the top offensive tackles in the country heading into Week 3, when LSU will start SEC play against South Carolina.

The big names in college football have shown out to start the year, and there’s plenty of football left. But through two weeks, some big names are starting to emerge.
