College Football Player Rankings: Cam Ward, Jalen Milroe headline On3 Impact Top 10 QBs after Week 7
As the halfway point of October comes and goes, the top quarterbacks in college football continue to put together strong performances. As a result, there has been some movement in the On3 Impact Top 10 QBs after Week 7.
The top three quarterbacks are still the same from last week. Cam Ward remains in the top spot, followed by Jalen Milroe and Shedeur Sanders. They all continue to perform at a high level to cement themselves as some of the top quarterbacks in the country with Week 8 quickly approaching.
Ward continues to fit in well to Miami’s scheme and is still generating some buzz for the Heisman Trophy as a result. While Milroe and Sanders’ Heisman hopes have cooled a bit, they’re still two quarterbacks making waves in NFL Draft circles with early Big Boards emerging through the first part of conference play.
Of course, the College football Playoff race is going to heat up as October rolls along. That means the top quarterbacks will have to continue to step up in big moments to get their teams in the 12-team field.
It’s safe to say, there will be plenty of movement the rest of the way. Here’s where the On3 Impact Top 10 QBs stand after Week 7.
1. Cam Ward, Miami
Cam Ward continues to hold down the top spot in the On3 Impact Top 10 QBs rankings as Miami comes out of the bye week. He leads the nation in passing yards per game through six games and will look to keep the momentum going.
Ward is averaging 369.8 yards this year entering this week’s matchup against Louisville, and his 20 passing touchdowns is tied for the most in the nation. He’s the focal point of Shannon Dawson’s unit in Coral Gables and will try to continue his torrid pace as ACC play heats up.
2. Jalen Milroe, Alabama
After a stunning loss to Vanderbilt in Week 6, Alabama avoided a second straight upset with a 27-25 victory against South Carolina last week. Jalen Milroe is a big reason why as he got the job done with both his arm and his legs.
Milroe completed 16 of 23 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown while adding 36 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. That performance helped him stay at No. 2 in the On3 Impact Top 10 QBs rankings entering this week’s Third Saturday in October matchup against Tennessee.
3. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado
Despite a close loss to Kansas State late Saturday night, Shedeur Sanders continued to put up impressive numbers for Colorado. He threw for 388 yards and three touchdowns to lead the charge in the 21-28 defeat.
Sanders enters Week 8 ranked No. 4 in the nation with 336.3 passing yards per game and is making a strong case as one of the top players in the NFL Draft. His accuracy is a big reason why there’s so much buzz about his game considering he’s completing 72.6% of his passes this year.
4. Carson Beck, Georgia
The Georgia offense was firing on all cylinders last week against Mississippi State, and Carson Beck was a big reason why. He threw for 459 yards and three touchdowns as UGA defeated MSU 41-31.
Beck is in the midst of another monster season at Georgia this year, entering Week 8 with 1,818 passing yards and 15 touchdowns. While his completion percentage is down a bit from last year, he’s still one of the top quarterbacks in the game – but he’ll face a tall task this week against No. 1 Texas in Austin.
5. Quinn Ewers, Texas
It was an efficient return for Quinn Ewers in Texas’ Red River Rivalry win over Oklahoma last week. He completed 20 of 29 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown as the Sooners cruised to the 34-3 victory at the Cotton Bowl.
Ewers didn’t miss a beat after missing two games with an abdominal injury, and he moved up to No. 5 in the On3 Impact Top 10 QBs as a result. He’ll get another high-profile matchup this week as Georgia comes to DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium for a highly anticipated affair.
6. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
LSU and Ole Miss squared off in a much-discussed matchup Saturday night, and it lived up to the billing. Garrett Nussmeier led the Tigers to the overtime victory and skyrocketed up the On3 Impact Top 10 QBs as a result.

Nussmeier has been in charge of one of the most pass-heavy offenses in the country. He ranks third in the nation in pass attempts, and his 331.5 yards on average ranks sixth in the FBS.
7. Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss
After a second loss in three games, Jaxson Dart now finds himself at No. 7 in the On3 Impact Top 10 QBs. He’s still one of the top passers in the game, though, following a big showing against LSU in last week’s overtime thriller.
Dart threw for 284 yards and a touchdown as Ole Miss fell 29-26 last week. He fell down the rankings, but is still considered one of the top quarterbacks in the country heading into Week 8.
8. Dillon Gabriel, Oregon
Oregon picked up one of the biggest victories of the season last week against Ohio State, and Dillon Gabriel was a big reason why. He helped engineer the comeback as the Ducks took down the Buckeyes 32-31 at Autzen Stadium.
Gabriel threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing score on the ground, as well. That kept him at No. 8 in the On3 Impact Top 10 QBs as he continues to settle in well to Will Stein’s system in Eugene.
9. Will Howard, Ohio State
Despite the loss to Oregon, Will Howard did enough to jump into the On3 Impact Top 10 QBs after Week 7. He was efficient in the effort as Ohio State wound up falling in the final seconds.
Howard completed 28 of 35 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns along with a rushing touchdown to lead the charge. He proved to be a stabilizing force for the Buckeyes offense, even despite a late slide that proved costly as time expired.
10. Drew Allar, Penn State
It appears Drew Allar is getting comfortable in the new scheme at Penn State. He stayed put at No. 10 in the On3 Impact Top 10 QBs after Week 7 after a strong showing to lead the Nittany Lions to a victory over USC.
Allar completed 30 of 43 passes for 391 yards and two touchdowns, although he threw three interceptions. He now sits No. 7 in the Big Ten with 248.7 passing yards per game – a solid increase from last year’s 208 yards on average.
It’s safe to say, some more big-time quarterback performances are on the way as the race to the CFP heats up. Conference play is in full swing, and the second half of the season will feature plenty of excitement.
