Let’s dive in, starting from the top with the best college quarterback in the game right now.

1. Cam Ward, Miami

Ward had his biggest day yet this season, taking on a Ball State squad that didn’t have a chance against him. The former Washington State transfer threw for 346 yards and five touchdowns in a 62-0 win. It was crisp and effortless.

On the season, Ward has now thrown for 1,035 yards and 11 touchdowns, against just one interception. He’s the architect of an impressive road win at Florida. And just about everything looks effortless. That’s a quality resume for No. 1 on our quarterback ranking list.

2. Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss

Through the first three weeks of the season Dart has been remarkably consistent, though it’s worth noting he has only faced non-conference foes so far. Still, a comfortable road win over a decent Wake Forest squad this week was a nice feather in the cap.

Dart threw for 377 yards and two touchdowns in the win, though he did throw his first interception of the season. The Ole Miss quarterback has also been consistent on the ground, scoring a rushing touchdown in every game this season.

3. Carson Beck, Georgia

Beck was kept pretty quiet by a Kentucky defense that mixed its coverages frequently and kept him on the off foot for most of the evening. But Beck still came out with the win, something he continues to do on a weekly basis.

The talented Georgia quarterback threw for 160 yards without a touchdown or an interception, his first such game of the season. Beck has logged 680 total passing yards and seven touchdowns without an interception on the season.

4. Quinn Ewers, Texas

The real question mark for Texas is the health status of Ewers after he was lifted from this week’s game in the second quarter. Ewers is dealing with an abdominal injury, so it’ll be interesting to see how quickly he can return to action.

In any case, Ewers has arguably the biggest win of the season under his belt with a dominant road win at Michigan. His numbers aren’t too shabby either: 691 passing yards for eight touchdowns and two interceptions.

5. Jalen Milroe, Alabama

It sure looks like Alabama knows exactly how to use Milroe, the talented dual-threat quarterback. He has now rushed for two touchdowns in every single game this season, stressing defenses in multiple ways.

The passing numbers won’t blow anyone away just yet. Milroe is averaging just a shade under 200 yards per game, but he has thrown for eight touchdowns without an interception. Until he’s really tested, Milroe will likely keep putting up solid numbers.

6. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

After a tough game against Nebraska, Sanders bounced back in a big way against Colorado State. He threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns without an interception and took only one sack.

That sack total has really been the key for Sanders; when he gets a clean pocket he is excellent. He can make plays even when things break down, but Colorado doesn’t fare nearly as well as a whole when he’s getting pressed. Can the Buffaloes continue to develop throughout the season to keep Sanders cleaner?

7. Dillon Gabriel, Oregon

The Oregon quarterback has yet to throw an interception this season, but until Saturday against Oregon State we hadn’t really seen him take advantage of his legs. That changed against the Beavers, with Gabriel rushing for 64 yards and a touchdown.

At 3-0, Gabriel will continue to get bigger and bigger spotlights as the year goes on. The Ducks are a definite playoff contender and he’s a big reason why. He now has 914 passing yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions.

8. Nico Iamaleava, Tennessee

The Tennessee quarterback is doing exactly what is asked of him, and he often hasn’t had to play a full game as a result. Tennessee once again smoked its opponent on Saturday, leading to a shorter stint for Iamaleava.

The dual-threat quarterback threw for just 173 yards and a touchdown against the Golden Flashes, while he also ran for 31 yards. On the season, Iamaleava is at 698 passing yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions, as well as 102 yards rushing and a score.

9. Will Howard, Ohio State

Ohio State was off this weekend, but Howard has been quite solid through the first two weeks of action. He hasn’t thrown an interception, while he’s done a nice job of getting the Buckeyes’ talented playmakers the football.

Through two games, Howard has logged 520 passing yards for four touchdowns, without an interception. He has also rushed for one score. If he can keep the Buckeyes humming, Ohio State will have legitimate playoff ambitions.

10. Miller Moss, USC

Like Howard, Moss was on a bye week this week. He deserves the rest after an excellent start to the season, one that included a win over a ranked LSU squad in the season opener.

Moss has been very accurate so far, sitting at 72.7% completion percentage on a total of 66 throws. He has logged 607 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. But the touch has arguably been the most impressive; he’s put the ball in some hard-to-hit spots.

There you have it, your top 10 quarterbacks now three weeks into the 2024 season. There’s been plenty to digest already, but the list is likely to see some significant shakeups going forward as more of the high-profile matchups begin to unfold. It should make for some excellent college football viewing.
