College Football Player Rankings: Jeremiah Smith, Ryan Williams headline On3 Impact Top 10 WRs after Week 5
In the latest college football player rankings, we have a fresh set of top 10 impact wide receivers across the sport following Week 5.
Now that we’re in the second quarter of the season, there are clearly 10 wide receivers above the rest. How they continue to impact their teams remains to be seen.
Let’s dive into the top 10 impact wide receivers in college football courtesy of our panel of On3 experts.
1. Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State
Smith is now the top wide receiver in college football, at least at this very point. The freshman phenom is as consistent as consistent gets.
So far this season, Smith has 19 catches for 364 yards, five touchdowns and 19.2 yards per catch. It’s scary to think that he’s going to get better each week.
2. Ryan Williams, Alabama
Speaking of scary, it is October after all. Williams is just 17 years old. Did you know that? Anyway, the Crimson Tide freshman dazzled in the win over Georgia.
Insane catches, a game winning touchdown and basically making Georgia defenders look silly, Williams is the total package. It is quite amazing how he’s made this big of an impact this early. This year, he has 16 catches for 462 yards, five touchdowns and 28.9 yards per catch.
3. Tre Harris, Ole Miss
Harris is putting up absurd numbers, so don’t let the star wide receiver’s production go under the radar. A lot of attention is on Ole Miss’ loss to Kentucky.
But since it’s the middle of the week, focus it on Harris’ production right now. He has 49 catches for 804 yards, five touchdowns and 16.4 yards per catch.
4. Travis Hunter, Colorado
Hunter is now squarely in the Heisman conversation as an overall player. But you can isolate his numbers at wide receiver or corner and look at one of the best players in the sport.
This year, Hunter has 46 catches for 561 yards, six touchdowns and 12.2 yards per catch. He’s on pace to shatter his numbers from last year where he played nine games.
5. Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona
Right now, McMillan is on pace to set career highs pretty much across the board. He’s steadily improved as a wide receiver each season at Arizona.
In four games, McMillan has 29 catches for 503 yards, four touchdowns and 17.3 yards per catch. He’ll be key in this weekend’s game against Texas Tech.
6. Luther Burden III, Missouri
Regarded as the best wide receiver coming into the season, Burden is still a high quality player. He’s just a bit behind the top five currently.

After a slow start, Burden picked it up with six catches each in his last two games. Overall, he has 19 catches for 257 yards, four touchdowns and 13.5 yards per catch. After a bye week last weekend, expect Burden to come back alive.
7. Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State
It’s probably unfair Ohio State has two of the top 10 wide receivers in the country on the same roster. But them’s the breaks, as they say.
This year, Egbuka has 21 catches, 362 yards, two touchdowns and 17.2 yards per catch. It seems like Will Howard has a balanced approach feeding the ball to both Buckeyes pass catchers.
8. Tai Felton, Maryland
Felton’s been quite the player for Maryland so far this season. The top wide receiver on the roster, Felton is key to making sure Maryland can compete in a deep Big Ten.
So far this year, Felton has 46 catches for 642 yards, five touchdowns and 14 yards per catch. He’ll be on display Saturday night as Maryland hosts Northwestern in primetime on FOX.
9. Tez Johnson, Oregon
Oregon is looking for that true breakout performance this season despite their ability to keep winning. Johnson could be a big part of that as he’s on pace to set a career high in catches.
The Ducks wide receiver has 33 catches for 311 yards, four touchdowns and 9.4 yards per catch. Oregon plays Michigan State Friday before a massive game against Ohio State next weekend.
10. Xavier Restrepo, Miami
Restrepo had a good game against Virginia Tech, which had a controversial ending resulting in a Miami win. But it was actually the first game he didn’t score.
Expect that change moving forward. He’s been Miami’s top wide receiver this season with 25 catches for 422 yards, five touchdowns and 16.9 yards per catch.
How does this list change going into next week? Well, who’s going to step up and make a potential season-defining play like Ryan Williams?
