Here are the On3 players of the week for Week Three of the 2022 season. Each week, we pick a player of the week in each Power 5 conference as well as an overall Group of 5 player of the week.

Everything being equal, more weight is given to big performances against “good” opponents.

ACC

WR Johnny Wilson, Florida State
The buzz:
Wilson, a transfer from Arizona State, had the best game of his career Friday night as Florida State rallied past Louisville 35-31.  Wilson, a 6-foot-7, 235-pounder, had seven receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores came in the fourth quarter from backup QB Tate Rodemaker. The second was on a 2-yard fade midway through the period that was the game-winner. It was the first 100-yard game of his career; he had just 154 receiving yards last season and only 89 in 2020.

Big Ten

QB C.J. Stroud, Ohio State
The buzz:
Stroud was razor-sharp in leading the Buckeyes to a 77-21 evisceration of Toledo. He finished 22-of-27 for 367 yards and five TDs, and guided the Buckeyes to TDs on their first seven possessions. Stroud completed his first nine passes, and at one point, hit three TD passes in a six-attempt stretch. He has 11 TDs and no picks on the season.

Big 12

QB Jalon Daniels, Kansas
The buzz:
It’s true – Kansas is 3-0, and Daniels’ play is a big reason for the fast start. He accounted for five touchdowns in the Jayhawks’ 48-30 win at Houston. Daniels threw for 158 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns. His third TD pass gave Kansas a 42-21 lead late in the third quarter and ended any doubt about the outcome. He has accounted for 10 TDs, including seven in the air, in the three games.

Pac-12

QB Michael Penix Jr., Washington
The buzz:
Penix, a transfer from Indiana, had a huge outing as the Huskies downed Michigan State 39-28 in the first “big” game for new coach Kalen DeBoer. He threw for 397 yards and four TDs as Washington built a 39-14 lead, then cruised home. It was his third consecutive 300-yard game. Penix was 18-of-25 for 278 yards and three TDs as the Huskies took a 29-8 halftime lead.

SEC

TE Brock Bowers, Georgia
The buzz:
Bowers, a sophomore, had a relatively slow start to the season, but he awakened in Saturday’s 48-7 rout of South Carolina. He had five receptions for 121 yards and his first two touchdowns of the season, and he also rushed for a score. His yardage total was the second-highest of his career, and it was the sixth time in 18 career games that he had two receiving touchdowns. Bowers’ 5-yard TD run opened the scoring almost midway through the first quarter, and he added TD receptions of 6 and 78 yards in the second and third quarters, respectively.

Group of 5

QB Chris Reynolds, Charlotte
The buzz:
Reynolds, a fifth-year senior and five-year starter, returned from an injury that kept him out of the past two games with one of the best performances of his career. He threw for 401 yards and a career-high five TDs in the 49ers’ 42-41 win at Georgia State. It was the second 400-yard game of his career. Reynolds threw at least one TD pass in every quarter, including two in the fourth period. His last one came with 17 seconds left and was the game-winner. Reynolds finished 31-of-43, and four receivers had at least five catches.
