With championship weekend come and gone, we now know the field for the College Football Playoff as well as the bowl schedule for this year’s postseason.

No. 1 Michigan, No. 2 Washington, No. 3 Texas, and No. 4 Alabama highlight the slate as the committee’s selections for the playoff. Still, the quality matchups go far beyond the semifinals with the New Year’s Six and other bowls littering the month of December with intriguing contests.

Now that everything is set in stone, here’s how the bowl slate shook out in the end:

College Football Playoff Semifinal: Rose Bowl — No. 1 Michigan vs. No. 4 Alabama

Date: January 1st
Time: 5 p.m. ET
Location: Rose Bowl – Pasadena, California

Michigan vs. Alabama is the semifinal that’s jam packed with storylines. The suspension of Jim Harbaugh, one of Nick Saban’s best coaching jobs, ‘Bama making it in over Florida State? Add in the fact that these two teams are the favorites to win it all and it’s clear that all eyes will fall on the Rose Bowl come New Year’s Day for this one between the Wolverines and Crimson Tide.

College Football Playoff Semifinal: Sugar Bowl — No. 2 Washington vs. No. 3 Texas

Date: January 1st
Time: 8:45 p.m. ET
Location: Caesars Superdome – New Orleans, Louisiana

This rematch of the Alama Bowl from last season is no less interesting of a playoff semifinal than the first. In all honesty, it’s a game between two teams who many thought would slip up before getting to this point. Instead, either Washington or Texas will end up playing for a national title depending on who comes out victorious in New Orleans.

Cotton BowlOhio State vs. Missouri

(Rick Osentoski & Nelson Chenault | USA TODAY Sports)

Date: December 29th
Time: 8 p.m. ET
Location: AT&T Stadium – Arlington, Texas

Ohio State vs. Mizzou is some form of dichotomy when it comes to program interest. It’s safe to say that the Cotton Bowl is not exactly what the Buckeyes had in mind for their year. On the other hand, the Tigers will be ecstatic for this opportunity against one of the sport’s best after posting their best record in almost a decade.

Peach BowlPenn State vs. Ole Miss

Penn State HC James Franklin, Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin
(Dan Rainville | USA TODAY NETWORK – Dale Zanine | USA TODAY Sports)

Date: December 30th
Time: Noon ET
Location: Mercedes-Benz Stadium – Atlanta, Georgia

In the third of three matchups between the Big Ten and SEC, Penn State and Ole Miss will clash in the ATL. It sets up quite the coaching meeting between James Franklin and Lane Kiffin as their programs go at it in order to earn their 11th and final win of 2023.

Orange BowlFlorida State vs. Georgia

Florida State HC Mike Norvell, Georgia HC Kirby Smart
(Brett Davis & David Yeazell | USA TODAY Sports)

Date: December 30th
Time: 4 p.m. ET
Location: Hard Rock Stadium – Miami, Florida

There’s likely no more depressed bowl on the schedule than the Seminoles vs. the Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl. Florida State is convinced that they should have been in the playoff while Georgia knows they should be there as well after winning the last two national championships. Still, if both teams put this behind them and show up like they have all season, it should make for a great game in South Beach.

Fiesta BowlOregon vs. Liberty

Oregon HC Dan Lanning
(Mark J. Rebilas | USA TODAY Sports)

Date: January 1st
Time: 1 p.m. ET
Location: State Farm Stadium – Glendale, Arizona

Oregon had their shot and missed when it came to the Pac-12 Championship and a spot in the playoff. Now, with those off the table, all the Ducks can do is try to earn their dozenth win against Liberty, a team that is unblemished after the regular season and a championship win out of Conference USA.
