2023 College Football Playoff National Championship Odds updated ahead of Week 6
The 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship odds were updated ahead of Week 6 of the season.
Following Week 5, the contenders are taking shape while the favorites are looking dominant and maybe a little shaky? This is why this sport is so fun.
Let’s dive into the latest national title odds, courtesy of FanDuel, after Week 5.
Georgia (+300)
Georgia is still the favorite to win it all until this team loses a regular season game. But the margins are getting thinner at this point.
The Bulldogs edged out Auburn 27-20 and saw their favoritism shrink after the weekend. The next team in the odds is getting much closer to being the overall favorite.
Michigan (+400)
Michigan blew out Nebraska 45-7 and clearly looked like one of the best teams in the country. The Wolverines remained undefeated after the weekend and improved to 2-0 in the conference.
The biggest matchups will be against Penn State and Ohio State of course, but for now, the Wolverines are the best in the Big Ten. Now, can they be the best in the country?
Ohio State (+750)
The Buckeyes were the beneficiaries of having a week off following the huge road win over Notre Dame. Place your bets now because these odds might only get shorter as the season moves on.
Kyle McCord looks comfortable at quarterback, there are weapons all over the field and the defense is improving week to week. Who’s Ryan Day going to call out next?
Texas (+750)
Texas rolled over Kansas, but the Jayhawks did not have Jalon Daniels at quarterback. Although, it probably wouldn’t have mattered.
This weekend coming up is the biggest one of the season to date. The Red River Showdown is a top 15 matchup this year and Texas must have this one to be “back.”
Florida State (+950)
Florida State also had the week off after winning an overtime game against Clemson the other week. But the Seminoles return to action to take on Virginia Tech this weekend.
This might not be a bad bet though since FSU is the top dog in the ACC. At this point, it seems like a crystal clear path to the playoff. That’s half of the battle.
Penn State (+1,100)
The Nittany Lions rolled through Northwestern, although it took a first half stumble. But that’s alright, Penn State remained undefeated and there is a segment of the population that thinks this team is better than Michigan and Ohio State.

If you’re one of those people, take these odds now and place your money down on the table. If Penn State is better than those teams, they’ll walk to the playoffs and have a chance at a title.
USC (+1,500)
USC escaped Boulder with a 48-41 win but it felt like there should’ve been more from the Trojans. Colorado brought the fight, and nearly a miraculous comeback, so maybe there’s some concern about USC.
Lincoln Riley’s team can score all over the place and Caleb Williams could win his second straight Heisman. But these odds are here for a reason: the defense.
Washington (+1,500)
Michael Penix Jr. and the Huskies offense were very sound once again, but the ground game got it done. However, a 31-24 win over Arizona was a little sketchy.
That’s alright, Kalen DeBoer wanted to see his team fight through adversity. Washington remained undefeated but these odds seem long. Place your bets.
Oregon (+1,600)
The Ducks played with their food a little, but ended up blowing out Stanford. But it’s interesting to see Oregon below Washington and USC in the odds when it seems like this is the best team in the Pac-12.
It’ll all sort itself out before too long, but it might be time to put your money on Oregon before the Ducks climb up the list. Oregon hits the bye week before heading up to Seattle to take on Washington.
